Prince William and many other members of the British royal family have given up when it comes to reconciling with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, especially after the release of Omid Scobie‘s new book, Endgame.
However, King Charles III does not feel the same way. The Monarch still hopes that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will rise to the occasion and prove that they deserve a second chance.
The King is hopeful to the point that he is resisting all calls to remove their titles. The Prince of Wales is one of the main proponents of this idea. Kate Middleton‘s husband wants to cut all ties with the Sussexes.
The heir to the throne has already decided that the Montecito royals will not be invited to his coronation. The titles have become a real source of tension between King Charles and Prince William who is eager to show the world that he is the man in charge.
Some supporters of the Royal Family say that The Sovereign does not need titles to have a relationship with his son. This issue has even become political with conservative MP Bob Seely calling for the titles to be removed.
Jennie Bond, the royal correspondent for the BBC, said those behind these calls misjudge the profound decency of King Charles.
Bond said: “I don’t think King Charles would be happy about any overt move to strip Harry and Meghan of titles. He is not vindictive and this would be seen as that.” According to the commentator, such a move would “deepen the rift and the hurt.”
The ruler has a very deliberate style and avoids making rash decisions that could make the situation worse. Critics are trying to use the Sussexes’ words against them when they say that the titles were not that important to them.
However, the couple has also hinted that they would never renounce the titles on their own. Some observers say that The Monarch is hoping that the power duo will step up and for example distance themselves for good from the content of the controversial book.
Endgame is not only hurting their relationship with the royals, but it has also the potential to affect their future endeavors in Hollywood.
A PR expert, Renae Smith, told The Daily Express: “The detailed depiction of the Sussexes’ private lives in Endgame, regardless of its source, will most likely impact public perception significantly. If the public believes that the Sussexes are the origin of these insights, it will most certainly cast them in an unfavorable light (here in the UK), potentially amplifying negative stereotypes.”
She continued: “This portrayal might lead to a perception that they are overly open about their private affairs, a stance which could be detrimental in a culture that often appreciates discretion and restraint.”
For two people who are determined to make a splash in the entertainment industry, Endgame puts them in an uncomfortable position.
King Charles believes that the uneasiness will eventually push the couple to make some serious concessions to reconcile. The King has a trap in place, will he be able to catch the prey?
