For months, reports have been circulating that Oprah Winfrey had used Ozempic to shed the pounds.
The billionaire mogul first brushed off the claims by saying that after years and years of yo-yo dieting, she would not be using any weight loss drugs such as Wegovy, Ozempic, and Mounjaro.
However, this week, Oprah sat down for a lengthy interview with PEOPLE Magazine, where she finally came clean.
The reporter and businesswoman said that she will not be ashamed of her decision to use a drug that is at her disposal to be healthy and fit.
Oprah fought against those who called her a hypocrite for changing her tune on weight-loss drugs. She stated: “The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people, and particularly myself.”
Oprah went on to further attack the people who have spent years talking about her physical appearance.
She loudly claimed: “It was a public sport to make fun of me for 25 years. I have been blamed and shamed, and I blamed and shamed myself. One hurtful moment came early in my career when she landed on acerbic fashion critic Mr. Blackwell’s list. I was on the cover of some magazine, and it said, ‘Dumpy, Frumpy, and Downright Lumpy.’ I didn’t feel angry. I felt sad. I felt hurt. I swallowed the shame. I accepted that it was my fault.”
Oprah declined to reveal which drug she is using but said that it was like a gift to her and added: “I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing. The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people, and particularly myself.”
Oprah explained that the drug, she is currently taking helps quiet the food noise, and she will soon hit her ideal weight of 160 pounds.
However, she warned that without exercise and self-control, the weight would come back. She stated: “I know everybody thought I was on it, but I worked so damn hard. I know that if I’m not also working out and vigilant about all the other things, it doesn’t work for me.”
Oprah cannot be contained.
