It has become quite difficult for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to hide the truth, their plan has failed.
They left the British royal family in 2020 to become global superstars, and things have not gone as they had hoped for. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are losing their credibility.
The Hollywood Reporter even decided to put them on the list of biggest losers for the year 2023. At this point, the Montecito royals only have two options.
The first one is to beg King Charles III for a second chance and return to the royal fold. The other solution is to lower their standards and start accepting gigs that are not really prestigious.
It seems that the duo is going for a mix of the two options. In recent weeks, they have signaled that they would welcome a return to England as part-time royals.
Markle has become more visible with some low-key appearances that could help rebuild her brand. She did a Q&A session for a Netflix short film.
She also appears in an ad for a coffee brand, Clevr Blend. The clip has gone viral, and critics are not missing the opportunity to go after her.
However, she has the media talking, and for once, it does not involve the Royal Family. Some observers say there is a little potential here if she can continue to adopt a self-deprecating attitude.
Developing Markle as a solo brand leaves Prince Harry out in the cold. However, if The Sovereign throws him a lifeline, he will be able to save face by mixing charity, service, and celebrity status.
With her latest moves, Markle seems interested in embarking on a solo journey, and she appears ready to pay the price. Critics might laugh at her, but she will be laughing her way to the bank.
The former actress by all accounts is not enthused by the idea of returning to England and will keep fighting for her California dreams. Prince Harry has been clear, he misses home and wants his children to be connected to their roots.
Royal commentator Cameron Walker said: “Meghan Markle is brushing up on her acting skills there. I think it just shows that she is very much no longer a working member of the Royal Family, very much going down the Hollywood route and indeed the social media route.”
Walker continued: “She’s not mentioned, she’s always in the background and then does a bit of an awkward fist bump which doesn’t quite work, and then a bit of a blooper.”
He concluded: “So this company Clevr Blends, she actually has invested a lot of money in this. She previously appeared in a video advertising this coffee brand earlier this year and again we’ve just seen her in this latest video with the co-founder Hannah Mendoza, who it’s thought is quite good friends with Meghan Markle. So I think this just shows Meghan is very much being Hollywood rather than the royal.”
King Charles will have to take a stand against many Britons to give his youngest son a way out.
