Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s engagement buzz can slow down a bit. The power couple is taking time to develop their romance.
After Swift’s 34th birthday, the pop superstar was spotted with an impressive opal ring. Many assumed it was a gift from the NFL star and a prelude to an engagement.
Well, people who jumped to conclusions were wrong. Kelce had nothing to do with the stunning piece of jewelry. It was a gift from Swift’s close friend, Keleigh Teller, who is the wife of actor Miles Teller.
She took to her Instagram Story to reveal what happened, and she wrote: “Love this ring I had made for my friend, she’s bejeweled.” Keleigh also shared a video where Swift could be heard saying: “This is unreal, Keleigh, opal and blue topaz. This is like a present for Elizabeth Taylor, not me.”
The move was made to debunk a report from the Instagram account DeuxMoi. Swift’s orbit has been on a mission lately to destroy the credibility of the social media outlet.
Tree Paine, Swift’s longtime publicist went after the account for claiming that Swift and her ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, secretly got married at one point in their relationship.
Paine wrote: “Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from DeuxMoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”
Swift has been more open about her love life recently. The “Anti-Hero” artist told TIME Magazine: “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care. The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
Kelce has also been talking about his famous girlfriend. Earlier this month, he said: “They showed Taylor at the game, and I mean you don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colors.”
He continued: “It just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed Taylor on the screen. That’s pretty awesome.”
The whirlwind romance has been keeping fans on their toes. However, they will have to wait longer for the engagement.
