Prince William seems more determined than ever to strike King Charles III‘s nerves when he least expects it.
King Charles has a little bit more than one year as monarch, and Prince William is already looking at what his reign will look like.
Sources close to Prince William have revealed that he has concrete plans on how to completely reshape the monarchy.
Royal insiders believe that some of Prince William’s transformational ideas will cause chaos. Others say that Prince William’s decision to have his map about the future of England out so soon is rather disrespectful and painful for King Charles, who got the job a few months ago.
However, many can come to the conclusion that his plans, if put into motion, will shake up the monarchy. People familiar with the situation told the Express that the heir to the throne has a five-point plan to put his imprint on the century-old institution.
Prince William has decided to further slim down the monarchy, which implies that only his family, his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — will be the working royals.
A royal staff member shared: “Once William and Kate become King and Queen, everything will look very different. The wider family will be reduced to almost nothing, with the Wales family becoming the main focus. The focus will be very much on the Wales family, and a reduced number of royal patronages and engagements will reflect that. Once the King goes, it will be out with the old and in with the new rather swiftly.”
The King wants fewer royal engagements and patronages, which would completely erase the concept of the Commonwealth.
The insider continued: “Focusing on the United Kingdom is very much a priority for William moving forward and there are already plans being worked on to that effect. There is a reluctance there from both William and Kate to join the tour of the Commonwealth because they feel it’s an outdated institution and not something they want to head.”
Prince William revealed his decision to focus solely on England after his disastrous Caribbean tour, where he and his wife were asked tough questions about racism and slavery.
Prince William made this declaration at the time: “Who the Commonwealth chooses to lead its family in the future isn’t what is on my mind.”
As the new monarch, Prince William will rule like the Swedish and Dutch royals. He also plans to ditch many expensive traditions favored by King Charles and Queen Elizabeth II.
The royal source claimed: “Processions, rituals, and official ceremonies will be scrapped in favor of more modern displays for state occasions.”
