At 75, King Charles III, who is not even one year into his reign, has been hit with double health issues, yet he is showing no sign of slowing down
In early January, King Charles announced that he had to undergo prostate surgery. While the operation went as smoothly as possible, doctors decided to keep The King for one extra night for more tests.
Days after His Majesty was released from the London hospital, he was diagnosed with cancer. British health experts are optimistic about the situation because they caught the unnamed illness in the early stages.
King Charles is currently undergoing cancer treatment several times a month, yet he is obsessed with keeping a very busy schedule, which is worrisome for Queen Camilla.
The Monarch has decided to carry on with the businesses of the century-old institution; he is still keeping up with royal engagements, and making early and late phone calls to world and business leaders and heads of charitable organizations.
Via The Telegraph, royal expert and author Camilla Tominey revealed: “Like his late mother, the King has long had a routine that works for him, and it is unlikely he will deviate from it regardless of his advancing years.”
According to the writer, Queen Camilla, many of King Charles’s staff members are worried about the fact that he is a workaholic.
One insider told The Telegraph: “The people who work for him are worried he is doing too much for a man of 75. It’s sometimes a struggle to keep up with him.”
Queen Camilla has publicly called her husband a workaholic and confessed that his workload is so heavy that they have become “two ships passing each other in the night.”
Prince William lamented about his father being absent during his formative years because he was always away and busy.
Tominey added: “No stranger to early morning starts and post-midnight finishes, the grandfather-of-five was once described by his sons, Princes William and Harry, as so obsessed with paperwork that he would regularly fall asleep at his desk.”
In a past documentary, Prince Harry said this about his father’s maddening routine: “He does need to slow down; this is a man who has dinner ridiculously late at night. And then he goes to his desk later that night and will fall asleep on his notes to the point where he’ll wake up with a piece of paper stuck to his face.”
Another insider said that an upset and anxious Queen Camilla has pleaded with His Majesty to slow down, but to no avail.
The Queen has been forced to accept the sad and heartbreaking truth that it is not possible to teach an old dog new tricks, and therefore that she is “never going to change the habits of a lifetime.”
According to Tominey: “If there is a gap in the royal diary, then the King will insist that it is filled rather than taking a rest break. As Prince of Wales, the King followed the same schedule, so it seems improbable he will change it now.”
Prince William has different priorities when it comes to his work ethic.
