Kanye West once again finds himself in the middle of a controversy, this time for reigniting the fiery feud between him and Taylor Swift and her loyal fans, otherwise known as “Swifties.”
On Twitter, now known as X, a passionate Swiftie going by the name of adri declared a state of emergency in the fandom because Kanye West’s Vultures 1 was “challenging” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” for #1 debut on Billboard Hot 100.
The passionate fan expressed: “SWIFTIE EMERGENCY. Beyonce’s new single ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ is challenging Kanye West for #1 debut on Billboard Hot 100. Let’s buy and stream Texas Hold ‘Em to block him from the top spot. Remember, he dragged Taylor on his latest Instagram story.”
It is worth noting that the two artists were not really competing on the same charts. West was quick and snarky to denounce the dedicated Taylor Swift fanatic. Asserting he was not trying to attack the “Cruel Summer” singer, although he name-drops her in the album itself.
He went on to claim he was not the “enemy “, but also not a “friend.” The “Famous” singer retorted: “I’m sure I’ve been far more helpful to Taylor Swift’s career than harmful. To all Taylor Swift fans, I am not your enemy uuum I’m not your friend either though lol.”
In his latest single, “Carnival,” he name-drops Taylor Swift. He raps: “Why she say she sucked my d–-k / Then she say she ain’t sucked my d–-k / She gon’ take it up the a–- like a ventriloquist / I made six Taylor Swift since I had the Rollie on the wrist.”
He also mentioned the pop icon in a degrading manner in “Famous,” released in 2016: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b—h famous.”
Taylor Swift was hurt by these vicious remarks from Kanye West, and in her Time‘s “Person of The Year” interview, she let the world know her distress.
She started by talking about Kanye West’s then-wife, Kim Kardashian, publicly releasing an edited and illegally recorded phone call.
The singer said: “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar. That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”
The aftermath was brutal. The pop megastar was forced to flee to “a foreign country,” where she “didn’t leave a rental house for a year.”
She was fearing for her life, reputation, and sanity, because of what the couple had done.
The “Lover” artist went on to add: “I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
She also recounted how it felt as if her “career had been stolen” from her. Many were swift to slam Kanye West for his abusive attacks on the former country darling.
Swift might have an answer for West on her upcoming album, entitled Tortured Poets Department.
