Jennifer Lopez was delighted to share her epic love story with Ben Affleck with the album This Is Me… Now, a musical film, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story; and a documentary called The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
It has been revealed that Lopez spent more than $20 million of her own money to push those projects, and the return was not great. However, she got the opportunity to flaunt her stunning figure in gorgeous gowns on multiple red carpets and put her marriage on display for the world to see.
Through the projects, Lopez opened her home and her heart to viewers and revealed the main reason why her relationship with Affleck crumbled two decades ago.
In the documentary, the singer and actress confessed that it all had to do with the cameras and constantly having the paparazzi following them.
Lopez said: “Our relationship crumbled under the weight of the pressure. We lost a sense of ourselves, and we needed to separate because we didn’t know how to survive it. I had to figure myself out, and he had to figure himself out.”
Affleck responded by hinting that he was not thrilled about putting some rather private and sacred parts of their lives in the songs and documentary for the world to see.
The Oscar winner bluntly said: “Things that are private, I always felt, are sacred and special because, in part, they’re private. So this was something of an adjustment for me.”
Affleck made it clearer by saying he is not interested in Lopez’s graze and burning desire to be on social media or in the spotlight.
He said: “Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media. Then I sort of realized it wasn’t a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like, You’re going to marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.”
Lopez, aware of how uncomfortable she makes her spouse feel, had this answer for her conundrum: “I don’t think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing all of this. He loves me, he knows I’m an artist, and he’s gonna support me in every way he can because he knows you can’t stop me from making the music I made… he doesn’t want to stop me. But that doesn’t mean he’s comfortable being the muse.”
A source close to Ben Affleck revealed that he has been polite and has been biting his tongue thus far, but that is about to change.
A person with ties to Affleck stated via Yahoo and Life and Style: “Ben has gotten very good at biting his tongue, but it’s known that he’s not happy at all about J. Lo’s endless need for attention. Ben loves J. Lo dearly, and he knew what he was getting into, to an extent. But his fear is that by putting so much of herself out there, J. Lo’s just opening them up to way too much public scrutiny, and that hasn’t helped their relationship historically — far from it.”
The couple is determined to make it work.
