Another day, another promise is broken by Prince Harry. This time, it is a promise to reconnect with his family.
A very excited and emotional Prince Harry recently did an interview where he explained that he was determined to see more of King Charles III and the rest of his family.
The Duke of Sussex pulled on the heartstrings and displayed his deep commitment to his family. The former soldier expressed his heartbreak over King Charles and Kate Middleton‘s health struggles during a recent Good Morning America interview.
He also confessed to seeking all means necessary to reconcile and be present for them. Following the interview, news broke about a prestigious opportunity the British government extended to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by inviting them to be in London next month.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were set to be welcomed for a momentous event, the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. The May 8 event is set to take place at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
It was the perfect occasion for Prince Harry to keep his word, see his ailing father, and work toward reconciliation. Prince Harry is now making the interview look like yet another ruse because he has decided to throw away the first opportunity to spend time with his sick relative.
A source close to Prince Harry has spoken to Express and revealed that the trip is off. The insider insisted that Prince Harry’s decision to decline the invitation was primarily driven by his security concerns.
Prince Harry and his team believe the best option might be to participate in the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service via video link or a pre-recorded message.
The person in the known shared: “Whenever Harry travels to the UK, his trips depend on how secure he is. Before deciding whether to attend the Invictus Games anniversary event, his security team must be sure that the metropolitan police adequately protect St. Paul’s and that his own security needs are met while he’s in London.”
The family friend stated that Prince Harry’s interest in reconnecting with his family remains strong. However, the essential factor of security, a constant in his life since stepping back from royal duties, continues to pose a challenge.
The source claimed: “Harry wants to spend more time in the UK with his family. But there’s no way he can do that while a question mark hangs over his security detail.”
The insider also stated: “Harry is extremely disappointed by the decisions made regarding his security. His request for security was not just for his personal safety but also for his family, the public, and the officers assigned to him. Discussions with the relevant departments are ongoing. Harry won’t attend if his team feels like his security might be compromised in any way.”
This decision comes after Prince Harry lost a bid to appeal his case against the Home Office over police protection, leaving him without the automatic right to use the royal security services.
King Charles must be in disbelief over the move because, as many royal experts have pointed out, Prince Harry, Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Archie, have traveled to London, attended events, and were adequately protected by the police.
