Kate Middleton has made some choices in life that her husband would like her brother and sister-in-law to respect.
However, no matter how much Prince William tries to enforce the rules, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ignore them.
Friends of the heir claim that Prince William is fuming over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s release of a statement about Kate Middleton that contained a word that disrupted her peace.
When it was first announced that Princess Kate was battling cancer, Prince Harry and Markle made an effort to wish her well on her journey to recovery.
The couple sent this message to Catherine, Princess of Wales: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they can do so privately and in peace.”
A source, who spoke to The Daily Beast, revealed that Prince William cringed upon seeing the word Kate in the statement.
The princess prefers to be called Catherine and has requested that those close to her call her by her given name.
The Daily Beast explained that international media picked up Kate because it was the name she used in school and the name she was introduced to the world more than two decades ago.
A close friend of Prince William and Middleton explained that he found it “bloody rude” that Prince Harry and Markle opted to use Kate in the official statement.
The pal went on to say imagine if Prince William started calling Prince Harry’s wife by a name she does not like.
The confidant said: “The fact that Harry and Meghan were unable to bring themselves to use her chosen name, even when they were sending her get-well-soon messages after her cancer diagnosis, was noted. William takes offense at people calling Catherine ‘Kate’ because she has asked to be known as Catherine. It’s a fairly simple wish to respect. I’m sure Meghan wouldn’t like it if William started publicly calling her ‘Meghan Markle.”
The insider claimed that while it might be a trivial move, Prince William still views it as a deliberate irritation from Prince Harry and his wife.
The friend went on to say: “Of course, it’s an utterly trivial thing, but those of us who know William know that it is one of the things that pushes his buttons. Pushing his buttons while he was going through his wife’s cancer seemed an entirely unnecessary and deliberate irritation. I wonder if the private card began, ‘Dear Kate…'”
Another friend of the Waleses said that the name drama is not the cause of the rapture between the families; the disrespect certainly does not help.
The pal claimed: “No one’s saying it’s responsible for all the trouble, but deliberately calling someone by a name they don’t like is just bloody rude. If Harry and Meghan were serious about healing their issue, a good first step would be to call her Catherine.”
In his book Spare Prince Harry, he explained that he called his sister-in-law, Kate, and was shocked to hear King Charles III call her Catherine.
