Britney Spears‘s relationship with her sons is often one step forward and two steps back. The pop star shares two boys, Sean, 18, and Jayden, 17, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
In the past few years, the teenagers became estranged from their mother, with one of them telling The Daily Mail that her erratic behavior and her constant need to be naked on Instagram played a significant part in their relationship going south.
The brothers, upset and ashamed of the mother, refused to attend her wedding to her now ex-husband, Sam Asghari. They eventually moved to Hawaii with their father and stepmother.
In the past few weeks, Spears has been able to start rebuilding trust with her boys slowly. However, recently, the brothers decided to hurt Spears to her core, and there is nothing she can do about her pain.
It has been revealed that Sean and Jayden want to reconnect with their estranged grandfather, Jamie Spears.
Mr. Spears is the father whom Britney Spears revealed in court was a drunk and mean man who gave her nightmares during the 13 years he forced a conservatoship over her life, money, and body.
Jamie Spears, 72, is also a grandfather who wants to reconnect with his grandchildren after getting one leg amputated and being struck with numerous serious health issues.
Nonetheless, the singer will not stand in the way of her boys seeing their grandfather. A source told In Touch: “Britney isn’t going to do anything to stand in the way of her boys seeing her dad, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy for her.”
According to the insider, Spears still has nightmares about her father and the toxic relationship they once had. As a human being, she is sorry for his health woes but has not been able to forgive for the trauma that he caused her.
The insider said: “She still has nightmares about the way [Jamie] controlled and basically tortured her and everyone else in the family with his out-of-control temper. She doesn’t know if she will ever recover and has a huge amount of anger towards him.”
The person went on to say: “Yes, he’s still her flesh and blood—and there are days when she expresses sympathy for him and what he’s going through—but it’s an extremely complicated and painful situation. She’s sad for him, but it’s not that simple to just forgive and forget the way he destroyed her life.”
The reconciliation between the grandfather and his two grandsons has a painful, ironic twist. Not long ago, Sean and Jayden were forced to take a restraint order against Jamie Spears.
Jamie Spears was accused of getting in a nasty altercation with Sean when he was 13 years old. Britney Spears is feeling extremely hurt that her children are eager to fix their relationships with their grandfather, who physically hurt one while pushing her away when all she ever did was love them.
The insider said: “Her boys seem to be more eager to reunite with their grandfather, who was so abusive they had to get a restraining order against him, than they are with her. In her view, she never did anything but love them and devote her life to them, so it hurts pretty bad that her dad is somehow more important to them than she is, or at least that’s how it feels.”
The source concluded by: “She has made progress with [her sons] — and she’s not taking it for granted — but it’s not nearly as fast as she’d like, so to hear they want to see her dad is something of a kick in the teeth. But she’s not going to make a fuss over it. She’s staying quiet and supporting them in whatever they choose.”
