Ellen DeGeneres recently made a move that once more sent tongues wagging. This time around, it involves her wife, Portia de Rossi.
The former TV host and comedian had a tumultuous few years. DeGeneres was deemed a toxic boss and was one of the biggest Hollywood big shots to be struck down by cancel culture.
After a phenomenal 21-year run, the Ellen DeGeneres Show ended brutally. What followed was a deluge of former employees talking about the horrific manner in which DeGeneres ran her enterprise.
Through the workplace drama, Ellen DeGeneres continued to have a haven at home. It has always been claimed that Ellen DeGeneres’s wife of 16 years, Portia de Rossi, is the most critical person in her support system.
However, recently, the actress made a bold and unexpected business move that has caused many to worry about the state of her romantic affair.
Ellen DeGeneres and wife, Portia de Rossi, paid $70 million for a stunning mansion in the idyllic coastal community of Carpinteria, California.
It was supposed to be the couple’s forever home, but they decided to put it on the market less than two years after buying the massive property.
A source, who spoke to In Touch, revealed that the home sale occurred during an unhappy celebration — their wedding anniversary.
The insider stated: “Ellen is known for flipping houses, but this one is different. It was their dream home. They just celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary [on August 16], but it wasn’t exactly celebratory.”
The person in the know further revealed that since Ellen DeGeneres’s premature retirement, she has been mostly at home and staying lowkey.
That decision has become a source of problems for Portia de Rossi, who needs space. According to the source: “Ellen being home all the time has taken a toll on their marriage. And Portia isn’t working much, either. They’re always in each other’s faces, and frankly, they’re getting on each other’s nerves. Now Portia probably wishes she hadn’t. She doesn’t have her space. Every time she turns around, there’s Ellen… Ellen has lost so much in recent years — it would be terrible if she lost Portia, too.”
Ellen DeGeneres’s wife should buckle up because she will be at home more often than before.
DeGeneres, who had a successful comedy tour, has announced that she will retire for good after airing her upcoming Netflix special Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, which will premiere on September 24
Netflix is selling the show as follows: “Making the final comedy special of her historic career.”
DeGeneres confirmed that she is removing herself from the spotlight for good by telling the audience during a show: “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
Portia de Rossi will now have more of her at home.
