Meghan Markle has decided that the heart wants what it wants. The Daily Mail has confirmed that Markle and Prince Harry purchased a stunning property in Portugal.
The pair invested more than $4 million in a luxurious mansion nestled on the picturesque coast of Melides.
According to the media outlet, Prince Harry’s and Markle’s pied-à-terre is a way for them to be in Europe and as close to family as possible.
Markle and Prince Harry are at war with the royals; therefore, they hope to create ties with Prince Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie.
Express revealed: “The Sussexes’ property purchase was reportedly prompted by Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbanks’ job at the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club. The resort’s properties, designed by high-end architecture and interior design firm Denton House, have attracted the couple. The resort is on an unspoiled, picturesque stretch of beach in the Algarve. It has become a popular holiday destination for the rich, thanks to being relatively untouched by tourism.”
The property purchase also serves as a means for Markle to obtain a “golden visa.” This visa allows non-EU citizens to reside in the EU, including Portugal, in exchange for a significant investment in the country. It is a way for the former actress to become a European without the hassle of living in the UK, a country she now loathes.
The golden visa aspect of the report took a twist, according to a royal expert who explained that the pair rushed to have a home in Europe because they were not sure they could live in the United States after the election.
If Donald Trump secures a second term, he could fulfill one of his most controversial campaign promises — deporting Prince Harry.
The Republican presidential candidate has shown his disdain for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle because he believes they are rude and disrespectful to the Royal Family.
Trump has said on multiple occasions he believes that Prince Harry lied on his visa application about his drug use, and therefore, he will revoke it and send him packing back to his native country.
According to reports, Prince Harry and Markle, dreading a Trump second term in the White House, have rushed to devise an escape plan to Portugal. This plan involves purchasing a property in Portugal, which would serve as a potential residence should they need to leave the US for political reasons.
Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun that this move could be the first significant and potentially brutal step by Trump if he is reelected.
He stated: “There are two reasons why Harry and Meghan might go to Portugal. One is the one you mentioned because he’s very close to Princess Eugenie, his cousin. They get on very well together. They seem to be the main members of the family who are still very much in touch with Prince Harry. The other reason is that there is always this fear that if Donald Trump gets reelected as President, he will move Prince Harry from America. It’s exactly the sort of thing that he would do, because first of all, it would show his strength and his power. To show that he can do it.”
Markle has never hid her disdain for Trump.
