The talented actresses recently made headlines for the most bizarre reason. The ladies appeared to disagree on the red carpet for a big event at Paris Fashion Week: the Balenciaga show put together by Hayek’s husband and CEO, François-Henri Pinault.
While on the red carpet, Hayek tried to convince Kidman to pose for several photos with other celebrities, including Katy Perry.
Hayek was doing so to give her husband the best publicity. Kidmam became frustrated and pulled her arm away from Hayek because she wanted to enter the venue and find her seat.
The story was coined a catfight on the red carpet and went viral. Weeks later, Tom Cruise brings the drama back into the spotlight with the report that he is siding with Hayek on the incident because they have been longtime friends.
PEOPLE Magazine confirmed that “Hayek also maintains a friendship with Kidman’s ex-husband, Tom Cruise. Hayek and Cruise have known each other for years, first working together on the 2006 film Ask the Dust. After their collaboration, Cruise and Hayek became semi-regular dinner partners over the next two decades.”
PEOPLE noted that Cruise spent some time with Hayek earlier this year. The outlet shared: “To celebrate the Top Gun star’s 62nd birthday this summer, Hayek posted a sweet shot of them dressed up at Victoria Beckham’s birthday party earlier this year.”
As reported via Yahoo, Tom Cruise’s long-standing friendship with Salma Hayek has pushed him to pick sides in the mini scuffle, and he blames Nicole Kidman.
A source explained: “[He’s] trying to get the inside dirt and guessing his ex-wife is to blame. He’s playing a pretty dangerous game, because it’s going to get back to Nicole, and everyone knows that anything Tom says about her, especially if it’s the least bit negative, triggers an avalanche from her.”
The insider continued: “He’s always been a huge fan of Salma and is still so grateful for her support after he broke up with Nicole. His admiration for her is purely platonic. He really respects her talent and her work ethic and thinks she’s a class act, so of course, he’s itching to find out what really went down between her and Nicole.”
According to the source, Kidman, who has a habit of speaking her truth, will strike back at Cruise. They added: “If he’s not careful, she will go on the attack, and at this point in her life, she’s not afraid to take the gloves off.”
