Ben Affleck was not a man to his word after walking down two aisles with his lady love.
On Jennifer Lopez‘s second wedding anniversary, she made the not-so-shocking decision to file for divorce from Ben Affleck.
With determination and emotions written all over her face, Lopez walked to a Los Angeles courtroom to file the documents without her lawyers present.
It was revealed that the decision liberated Lopez because she felt like she was living a lie.
Lopez believes she was misled by the promise of a fairytale romance with the Oscar winner, who failed to deliver.
A source close to Jennifer Lopez spoke to PEOPLE Magazine and explained that Ben Affleck was not able to keep his promise and added: “The fairy tale she was promised turned out to be a nightmare in the end.”
Another insider told Page Six she felt guilty for not understanding and accepting Affleck’s true colors when he showed them to her more than two decades ago.
The source claimed: “She really didn’t stop to consider who the actual man was [in] the fairy tale, and the immense love Jennifer believes in is not in [Ben’s] DNA. Ben has a darkness to him that no other person can fix. [His ex-wife] Jen Garner couldn’t fix it; all the success in the world couldn’t fix it.”
The insider also clarified that despite the viral pictures of her flashing a massive smile while visiting Ben Affleck’s home, nothing on earth will make her rekindle this romance a second time.
The source told PEOPLE: “The exes are not getting back together. Although she is currently in a really good place, she jumps to close the door on this crazy chapter.”
The insider added that Lopez and Affleck will continue to interact and be seen together because their children have a tight bond.
Additionally, Lopez loves Affleck’s three children and wants to be present for them. Affleck feels the same way about Lopez’s teen twins.
Lopez and Affleck have not been seen together during the terrible fires ravaging Southern California, confirming that there is no going back.
However, Affleck and his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, the mother of his three children, have been spotted numerous times.
Affleck briefly relocated to Garner’s home. Lopez and Affleck will finalize their divorce on February 20.
Some observers are wondering if the former couple will keep the different interactions going for a long period.
