TMZ and The Daily Mail initially broke the news. The outlets revealed that Holland is a traditional and private man who sought Zendaya’s father’s approval before he proposed during an intimate picnic.
TMZ reported that Zendaya’s father, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, was delighted with Holland’s romantic gesture.
The media outlet explained that Coleman has a soft spot for Holland, which only added to the heartwarming nature of the news.
However, the situation took a turn when, soon after the details leaked in TMZ, Zendaya’s father gave a fiery and angry interview to Daily Mail, in which he refuted the reports as nonsensical “crap.”
Mr. Coleman claims he was left in the dark about the development of Zendaya’s love life and certainly did not speak to Holland.
Coleman bluntly said: “That was a bunch of crap dealt out by TMZ. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

In a post on Patreon, Dominic Holland defended his son and claimed that Tom included his future father-in-law in his engagement plan.
Dominic revealed that the actor met with Mr. Coleman and received his blessing. He revealed: “Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well prepared. He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.”
