Ben Affleck opened up about his post-divorce life, which has been lonely thus far. The Batman star has collected two failed marriages and many scandals in the past years.
He was first married to Jennifer Garner, but a cheating scandal with the nanny ended their marriage bitterly.
Affleck went on to battle alcohol addiction and fought through other personal issues before reconciling with his ex-fiancéee, Jennifer Lopez.
After more than 21 years apart, Affleck and Lopez started reconnecting. However, their relationship was short-lived, and they got married and divorced after just two years.
So, how is Affleck’s post-Lopez life treating him? In a recent interview, he revealed that it was not great.
Affleck admitted his struggles in the dating scene in a rare display of honesty, attributing them to his lack of game and flirting skills.
He shared that he often feels unsure about interpreting signals and fears humiliation if he makes a move.
While promoting The Accountant 2, Affleck claimed he could relate to his character, Christian Wolff, who struggles to convince women to date him.
Affleck said of Wolff: “Here’s a guy who’s trying to figure out — he wants to have a relationship with a woman, and he’s trying to figure out how to do that, like how to put yourself out there. You know, he’s not comfortable extending himself. He doesn’t really know how to flirt, exactly. He’s not comfortable, like so many of us.”
Affleck also noted: “It’s not easy for anyone figuring out relationships, particularly at the very early part, where you’re trying to gauge, ‘What does this signal mean? Is this person looking at me? Do they like me? Am I going to humiliate myself if I go over there?'”
The filmmaker commended his character for putting himself out there by line-dancing while on a date, which he said was “kind of a lovely thing.”
He added: “I probably am not going to get a lot more demands for my line-dancing work [in movies]. I don’t know. The phone hasn’t rung yet.”
Indeed, since splitting from Lopez, Affleck has been single. However, reports claimed that he would love to wipe out all the pain that he caused Garner and beg her for a second chance.
Garner responded by telling Affleck, “No way.” It seems that Affleck might have to take the modern way of meeting a woman via dating sites such as Tinder, Grindr, Bumble, Match, and OKCupid.
However, even virtually, it might not be very simple because Affleck was caught on Raya attempting to connect a few years ago, and things did not end well.
