During a red carpet interview, Tom Cruise was caught off guard when he was unexpectedly asked about his Father’s Day plans.
Indeed, the moment was awkward and uncomfortable because the world is fully aware of his self-imposed estrangement from his youngest daughter, Suri Cruise.
Over the past twelve years, the once-strong bond between Tom Cruise and his daughter, Suri, has sadly deteriorated to the point that the 18-year-old changed her name, opting for her mother’s middle name, Noelle, as her last name, a decision believed to be a symbolic gesture of her closer relationship with her mother, Katie Holmes.
Tom Cruise is also the father of Connor and Bella Cruise, with whom he maintains close relationships, unlike Suri; they are proud members of the Church of Scientology.
An E! News journalist caught up with Cruise at the Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning premiere in New York City where he asked: “Father’s Day is just around the corner. What would an ideal Father’s Day look like for you?”
Tom Cruise took a look at the reporter and his surroundings; he paused not to say anything he would regret and eventually laughed it off before pivoting to his extraordinary movie career.
Page Six detailed the cringeworthy interaction: “Cruise said, you know…” before trailing off and shaking his head while looking into the distance. He eventually added, “Just having fun, man.”
The Top Gun star then redirected the conversation to his films without referencing any of his three children, continuing, “Making movies, big adventures, having a great time.”
It is clear that Cruise was not pleased about the exchange and is reportedly still fuming that it even occured. Moreover, it has been revealed that Tom Cruise recently had another questionable moment as a father. According to Yahoo sources, the action star has banned at least one high-profile member of his entourage from discussing Suri.
An insider told the media outlet that actress Ana de Armas, who is rumored to be dating Tom Cruise, cannot mention Suri. The person in the know said: “Don’t bring up Suri; it’s a big thing. That topic is completely forbidden.”
The individual also said to the news outlet: “He has strict rules about what can and can’t be talked about. Suri is the ultimate red line. Ana was made aware early on that Tom wouldn’t discuss Suri. It’s considered a painful subject [for Cruise]. His inner circle knows it’s not to be mentioned – ever.”
Tom Cruise is hoping to have a child with Ana de Armas to “make up for his failure with Suri. Tom is charming, generous, and intense, but he’s also deeply structured.”
This is just one alarming parenting moment from Tom Cruise in a long line. It is a sentiment echoed by many that Tom Cruise will one day regret not having a relationship with Suri.
