According to a recent report, Swift had several back-and-forth discussions with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who confirmed the talks in an interview on the TODAY show.
When host Savannah Guthrie directly asked if a Taylor Swift appearance was “in the works,” Goodell played coy, trying to keep everything under wraps. When Guthrie pushed for a better answer, he simply replied, “Maybe,” and added, “It’s a maybe.”

With the official announcement of Bad Bunny, it is now certain that Swift will not be performing. Reports have surfaced giving the reason for the breakdown: a major disagreement between the NFL and the pop superstar. According to an article from Yahoo!, Swift was interested in the halftime show, but she had one major demand that was categorically declined by the NFL.
The singer was reportedly adamant about retaining ownership of her performance footage. She also wanted to secure promotional slots for her upcoming projects, most likely her upcoming album and potential tour.
The NFL said no, reportedly arguing that the Super Bowl is the biggest platform in the world and, therefore, does not need Taylor Swift to grab headlines. In a bizarre twist, Swift could say the exact same thing; as the biggest performer in the world, she does not need the NFL to promote herself or get headlines. It seems that the two parties mutually agreed it would not happen.

Taylor Swift has brought in millions of new fans and eyeballs to the NFL since she began dating, and eventually got engaged to, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. It is currently unknown whether the NFL will concede or offer a final compromise with Swift in the future to make the performance of the decade a reality.
