Kate Middleton is making it very clear that she had to work through a Pandora’s Box of issues and had to make some mental acrobatics to be able to sit down, look elegant, interested, and regal as she dined with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and his wife, Melania Trump, last month.
Donald Trump arrived in the UK and expected lots of fanfare for his second state visit with King Charles III, his wife Queen Camilla, and many other Royal Family members.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, was front and center at all the events surrounding the Trumps. She participated in a Boy Scout meeting event with the first lady, Melania Trump, and eventually stole the spotlight, as expected, at the formal banquet hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.
Mental Acrobatics For A State Visit
However, make no mistake: it was not an easy or desired task for Princess Catherine. Sources close to the future Queen consort have been sharing their insights since the meeting between Princess Catherine and Donald Trump took place.
Royal insiders revealed to News Nation that Catherine had to, in their words, “suck it up” and maintain composure as she sat, appeared amused, and listened to Donald Trump discuss different topics. It was a difficult task because she is human and recalls the comments that Donald Trump previously made about her.
The Unforgettable Topless Photo Insult
It is impossible to forget that about 13 years ago, Catherine, Princess of Wales — while vacationing in France at a private villa in Provence with her husband, Prince William — was photographed in a very uncomfortable position.
Catherine was sunbathing topless when paparazzi were able to take pictures of her, and eventually, the photos were splashed all over the French publication Closer.
The outlet revealed: “Princess Catherine, ever the stateswoman, maintained a firm stiff upper lip despite the fact she is said to still be miffed over a slight Trump gave her 13 years ago. In 2012, Kate Middleton (now the Princess of Wales) was photographed sunbathing topless at a private villa in Provence, France. The photos were taken with a long-lens camera and published in the French outlet, Closer.”
It was already a horrific and humiliating experience for Princess Catherine, but Donald Trump made it even bigger and even more mortifying for her. She was only recently married at the time.
Donald Trump gleefully rushed to Twitter to share his burning and unsolicited thoughts about the topless photos, saying that it was “more or less Catherine’s fault” because she is the one who decided to go sunbathing nude. He added that she is beautiful, and therefore, anyone would be happy to take naked pictures of her.
A royal source revealed: ”She had never been more mortified in her life. To add insult to injury, Trump, who had yet to be elected, tweeted: “Who wouldn’t take Kate’s picture and make lots of money if she does the nude sunbathing thing. Come on Kate!”
Duty Prevails Over Personal Pain
Catherine has not forgotten the cruel and crass comment made by Trump. However, she knows that as the future Queen, duty prevails over everything else. So, she was forced to swallow her personal feelings and, for the sake of the country, sat down next to the man who insulted her, degraded her, and humiliated her.
The source added: “The Royal Family never forgets a slight or an insult. Elephants have nothing on them. But for the country, Kate had to suck it up.Duty is always first for Catherine and the family,” my source said. “Personal feelings or humiliations can be put aside for the good of the country.”
Catherine’s supporters love her sense of duty.
