As Meghan Markle joyfully prepares for the holiday season, she is confronted by an unexpected truth bomb from beyond the grave.
A newly published book about the lives of the Royal Family has rattled Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s cozy dynamic in California.
Andrew Lownie‘s biography focusing on the British royals, reports that when Prince Harry, grandson of the Queen, and Meghan Markle, known for Suits and Deal or No Deal, announced their engagement in November 2017, Palace reactions were skeptical.
The late Prince Philip reportedly warned Harry, saying, “One steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them.”
Royalists see this as typical of Philip‘s humor and added that he is not here to defend his name. Meanwhile, Sussex supporters view it as out-of-touch, elitist, and sexist.
Many argue that an actress might enter heaven but not the Royal Family. Insiders say Markle was unaware of such remarks behind her back and felt hurt when she discovered them.
Prince William’s Concerns Over Moving Too Quickly
Prince Philip was not the only royal to express wariness. Sources indicated that Prince William, who had dated Kate Middleton on and off for eight years before their iconic royal wedding, warned his younger brother that the relationship was moving too quickly and that he should have a long engagement to better get to know Markle and for her to adapt to the many protocols and rules of the monarchy.
Though Harry later clarified in an interview that William “never tried to dissuade” him from marrying Meghan, he admitted his brother “aired some concerns, very early on.”
Harry, in an interview, said that William may have “predicted what the British press’ reaction was gonna be” — that he was bringing a woman with Black and African heritage into the centuries-old monarchy.
Prince Harry confessed, “I didn’t truly understand which part of what he was talking about,” until he eventually discovered the painful truth via a flood of negative and racist articles and online messages, which left Harry feeling shocked and deeply hurt.
Post-Wedding Friction and the Violent Disagreement
The tension between the royal brothers exploded after the wedding. In his 2023 memoir, Spare, Harry shared the details of a violent disagreement that turned into a physical brawl in 2019.
According to Prince Harry’s account, the fight began when William allegedly insulted Meghan, calling her “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive.”
According to excerpts published by The Guardian, Harry wrote: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
The Duke of Sussex hit back, claiming that his brother was simply “parroting the press narrative” about his wife. Harry said he was furious at William during the emotional exchange and told a reporter he felt as if William “was coming for my wife.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex married in May 2018. They left royal duties and moved to California in 2020, where they now live with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and have launched multiple businesses.
Nearly six years after leaving the UK, their relationship with British royals remains non-existent, though Prince Harry is trying to maintain contact with King Charles III. Prince William has made it clear that the estrangement is permanent.
