The end of the year is a time for reflection, and King Charles‘s wife, Queen Camilla, has been doing quite a bit of that in the past weeks.
As the royal couple shares the delight of the Christmas holiday with a beautiful card and heartwarming message, the news about His Majesty’s health remains dire.
King Charles, who is battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, is said to be thinking that this Christmas might be his last, according to reports.
The Bittersweet Christmas Card
On the Royal Family’s official Instagram page, King Charles III and Queen Camilla shared their 2025 Christmas card, featuring a joyful photo.
In the portrait, King Charles, 77, opted for a blue suit, and Queen Camilla, 78, wore a long-sleeved white dress.
The holiday card showed the couple smiling widely and holding hands while at the Villa Wolkonsky in Rome, Italy, during a state visit in April. The photo was taken to mark their 20th wedding anniversary.
The photo was captioned: “🎄✨ It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
The Dire Prediction: “His Last Christmas”
The release of the card comes as sources reveal that King Charles wants to make this Christmas especially meaningful amid his health struggles. He hopes to be united with his entire family during the year-end festivities so he can bond with them through love and gifts.
An insider told Us Weekly via Page Six: “Charles prioritizes duty, but he’s also a family man who knows his time is precious.”
The same insider claimed the King wants this Christmas to be special as it might “be his last.”
Another insider expressed concern from his loved ones: “They’re taking it day by day,” adding that “his health isn’t the best.”
Duty Over Illness
Despite the concerns, the Monarch plans to carry out his traditional duties during the holiday: He plans to spend Christmas morning at Mary Magdalene Church and will record his annual speech.
A source insisted: “Nothing would stop Charles from doing that. He will do everything expected of him and more.”
Queen Camilla’s Heartache And Regret
The painful realization has dawned on Queen Camilla, focusing on the bittersweet nature of their achieved life together and her current feelings of regret.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who have always believed they had an unbreakable bond, have built a life and an extraordinary legacy despite a rocky, scandalous public beginning marked by affairs and disturbing media leaks.
They have achieved formal acceptance through their years of dedicated duty and loyalty to the monarchy.
However, Queen Camilla has been struggling with deep regrets and is in emotional turmoil. As the illness and the passing of time become the central focus of their life, Queen Camilla is doing her utmost best to spend time, make memories, and cherish every moment with the man she loves. She reportedly feels deep regret, believing she did not spend enough time with her husband.
The reason for this feeling is the constant presence of a “third party” in their marriage: work. Charles’s relentless “sense of duty” and “voracious appetite” for work meant their professional lives always took precedence over private time.
Queen Camilla told Vogue: “It’s not easy sometimes, but we do always try to have a point in the day when we meet. Sometimes it’s like ships passing in the night, but we always sit down together and have a cup of tea and discuss the day. We have a moment. It’s lovely to catch up when we have a bit of time.”
In the past months, Queen Camilla has publicly lamented about her pleas for King Charles to slow down, focus on his health, and be with her after his cancer diagnosis.
Following his cancer diagnosis, Queen Camilla complained to well-wishers, saying Charles was “getting better,” but quickly added: “Well, he would be [getting better] if he behaved himself.”
She has openly stated that her husband “won’t slow down and won’t do what he’s told” by doctors or herself, highlighting her limited power to influence his sense of duty.
During a royal tour, when discussing his return to work amid treatment, Camilla directly referred to her husband’s relentless pace as “the problem,” and noted: “I think he loves his work, and it keeps him going… he wants to do more and more and more.”
When presented with the idea that her husband might reduce his workload, she had a dry, definitive response: “Dream on.”
Queen Camilla, who is described as Charles‘s “rock,” is left grappling with the painful reality that their decades-long love story, defined by duty, may have cost them precious personal moments.
However, there is no regret from King Charles because he views his “voracious appetite” for duty not as a mistake but as the fulfillment of his purpose — he waited more than 70 years to fulfill his destiny.
King Charles’s dedication is not merely a job; it is a vocation for which he is profoundly grateful. His intention remains firm: to continue serving the Crown and the public for as long as his health permits, making no apologies for the sacrifices required.
The difficult truth for Queen Camilla to swallow is that she married a man whose loyalty to the institution will always supersede his personal desires, and arguably even his health concerns. Her peace must come from accepting this immutable fact of his character.
Ironic “Third Party” Conflict
Prince Harry must be baffled by Queen Camilla’s complaints about a “third party” after he reminded the world that she was Princess Diana‘s “third person” in her marriage to then-Prince Charles.
