This week, the entire family will gather for a sacred moment: the christening of baby Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. Athena is the second daughter of Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The ceremony is reportedly scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2025, and will take place at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London, the same historic venue where Prince George was baptized.
The Grandparent’s Burden
Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, might have spectacularly fallen from grace with the royals, but as Athena’s grandparents, Princess Beatrice had no choice but to have them present during the religious ceremony.
For weeks, the family has avoided Andrew as he wallows in pity and frustration after losing his titles and being evicted from the Royal Lodge for his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
It is believed that King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton will all be present for the baptism. However, sources via PEOPLE Magazine confirmed it is a dreaded family event, and many are being consumed by anxiety and stress because they fear Andrew will be the center of unwanted attention.
The Stern Warning From The King
It is believed that King Charles had a stern talk with his controversial brother before the gathering and warned him not to ruin the day or make it about himself.
King Charles’s former staff member Grant Harrold, who spoke to the Express, noted the expected attendance: “Beatrice’s daughter’s christening is coming up this week, which will likely see Andrew reunited with his wider family. As with any royal christening, members of the extended family will be there, so I imagine King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate will have been invited. And of course, as the new arrival’s grandfather, Andrew will likely have a key role—even if there are reports that his relationship with Beatrice isn’t strong at the moment.”
The “Very, Very Tricky Situation”
The face-off will be more than awkward and is expected to reach a high level of discomfort. The expert shared the reason for the tension: “It will be very awkward for certain members of the family, especially the King and Prince William. They decided to strip Andrew of his titles, so the reunion will be very awkward. It’s a very, very tricky situation.”
Prince William will stay as far away as possible from his embarrassing uncle. King Charles has no interest in being photographed or making small talk that could be misinterpreted and come back to haunt him. The reporter shared that the King is laying down clear instructions: “It’s possible that senior members of the family will keep a distance.”
