King Charles III was delighted to remove one giant burden from his shoulders this week as a delicate agreement was finally reached regarding the Arctic standoff.
For months, the situation with President Donald Trump had become increasingly complicated for Europe as he threatened to impose heavy tariffs on Denmark and other allies unless they acquiesced to his desire to acquire Greenland.
After multiple back-and-forth threats and emotional pleas from Danish and NATO leaders, a tentative peace was found, allowing the King to breathe a sigh of relief.
With the “Greenland chatter” subsiding, His Majesty has been happily focused on making his journey to Washington productive.
The state visit, set for the spring of 2026 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the USA, is seen as a vital moment for Queen Camilla and the King to solidify the friendship between the two nations amidst an ongoing trade war.
The Sussex Torpedo
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to torpedo the King’s efforts to calm the situation with the raging Trump machine.
Prince Harry has engaged in a public war of words with Donald Trump after the President issued what many veterans consider an “insulting” critique of those who fought alongside Americans after 9/11.
Donald Trump’s inflammatory remarks at Davos sparked the row: “They’ll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan… and they did, they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines. We’ve never needed them… It has to be a two-way street.”
Prince Harry, a combat veteran who served two tours in the conflict, hit back with a stinging rebuke: “In 2001, NATO invoked Article 5 for the first – and only – time in history. It meant that every allied nation was obliged to stand with the United States in Afghanistan to pursue our shared security. Allies answered that call.”
The former soldier and pilot added: “I served there. I made lifelong friends there. And I lost friends there. The United Kingdom alone had 457 service personnel killed.”Thousands of lives were changed forever. Mothers and fathers buried sons and daughters. Children were left without a parent. Families are left carrying the cost.”Those sacrifices deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect, as we all remain united and loyal to the defence of diplomacy and peace.”
A Visual Protest From California
Meghan Markle was quick to let the world know that she is backing her husband in his fight with the president.
The Netflix star and businesswoman, who seems to have forgotten that Trump and his administration have threatened to deport her husband, has stunned many by releasing a series of evocative pictures highlighting their long-standing veteran advocacy.
In one picture, Prince Harry is inside a military aircraft, while in the other photographs, the royal is seen hugging veterans and celebrating their stellar achievements at the Invictus Games.
The timing of these images is being viewed by Palace insiders as a calculated visual protest against the President’s narrative. While the Sussexes are being praised by the veteran community for their “Iron-willed” defense, King Charles is reportedly furious.
Diplomacy vs. Headlines
The King views this incident as a direct threat to his diplomatic strategy. For years, he has used dignity and class to maintain peace with the White House, regardless of the political climate.
While Prince Harry has once more made the knee-jerk decision to grab global headlines and confront the President directly is making a tough situation even harder for the Monarch. As the summer visit approaches, the King now faces the daunting task of repairing a relationship his own son has set ablaze.
Some royal experts also suggest that King Charles understands what his son did because Trump’s words were considered offensive even by so-called British allies like Piers Morgan.
