Lollapalooza Brasil 2026 has taken a dramatic turn after Arsenal and Flamengo star Jorginho Frello voiced strong criticism of pop star Chappell Roan.
The ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer has faced public scrutiny following an encounter at a São Paulo hotel that left Jorginho’s 11-year-old stepdaughter — who is also the biological daughter of Hollywood icon Jude Law — very upset.
Here is the breakdown of the hotel clash that has set social media ablaze.
The Encounter: A Child’s Admiration Turned Nightmare
According to Jorginho’s explosive Instagram statement, his wife, Catherine Harding, and her daughter, Ada Law, were having breakfast when they spotted Roan at a nearby table.
Ada, a devoted fan who had even made a handmade sign for the singer’s performance, simply walked past the table and looked at the singer to confirm it was her idol.
“She didn’t even approach the artist,” Jorginho revealed. “She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, nor did she ask for anything.”
What followed was described as a “ruthless” overreaction from the pop star. A “large security guard” allegedly stormed over to the family’s table, aggressively talking and accusing the 11-year-old of “harassing” and “disrespecting” the entertainer. The guard reportedly threatened to file a formal complaint against the little girl with the hotel’s management.
Jorginho: “Without Your Fans, You Would Be Nothing.”
The soccer star, accustomed to the pressures of global fame, did not hold back in his defense of his stepdaughter. His message to Roan was a direct, brutal reality check: “I have lived for many years with football, with exposure, with famous people, and I know very well what respect and limits are. What happened there wasn’t it. It was merely a child admiring someone. It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from someone who should understand the worth that fans have… @chappellroan WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.”
Chappell Roan Responds to Jorginho Frello
The pop music superstar addressed the situation on Saturday via a video posted on social media. She stated: “I’m just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security. I didn’t even see. I didn’t even see a woman and a child. Like, I did not. No one came up to me. No one bothered me.”
She continued: “Like, I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel. I think these people were staying at the hotel as well. So the fact that like, a security guard who is — I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not. They did not come up to me. They weren’t doing anything. It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe because there’s no action even taken.”
Roan also apologized to the mother and daughter. The singer said: “I’m sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something, and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that”
The Jude Law Connection: Did the Talented Mr. Ripley Star React?
While Jude Law is famously private regarding his children, the fact that the child involved is his daughter has added a layer of “Hollywood Heat” to the scandal.
While Law has not issued a formal public statement, insiders suggest the actor is “livid” that his daughter was intimidated by security for merely smiling at a celebrity.
The public’s protective stance over Ada Law has turned the tide against Roan, with many pointing out that even “A-List” royalty like Jude Law does not treat fans with such “malicious” coldness.
The “Unrepentant” Shoutout
Hours after Jorginho’s explosive Instagram post went viral, Chappell Roan took the stage for her Lollapalooza Brasil set. In what many are calling a stunning and “snide” move, she pointedly thanked her security team during the performance.
“Thank you to my security, my crew,” she told the crowd. While it is unclear if she had been briefed on the specifics of the crying 11-year-old, the timing has been branded “atrocious” by fans. Critics argue that thanking the very people who reportedly “shook and intimidated” a child is a direct “slap in the face” to the family.
Diva or “Mental Health” Guardrail?
This is far from the first time Chappell Roan has been branded a “diva” for her dismissive attitude toward the public and the people who support her. While she has previously claimed her strict boundaries are a necessity for her mental health and a response to “creepy” fan behavior, critics argue she has crossed the line into “atrocious” entitlement.
The VMAs Clash: Roan famously told a photographer to “Shut the f*** up” on the red carpet.
The “Random B” Stance: She has repeatedly told fans that she is “off the clock” in public and that approaching her is “weird.”
After what happened with Chappell Roan, Rio De Janeiro’s mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, said she was banned from performing at the city’s Todo Mundo no Rio festival series as long he is in office.
