Reports of a growing divide at Buckingham Palace have become more prominent as King Charles III considers attending the forthcoming Invictus Games in Birmingham, which Prince Harry will host.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex will meet his father later this year and plan new face-to-face meetings with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, most likely at the upcoming major sporting events.
One source said, “Next year is a big deal for Harry.” He is determined the Birmingham Games will be the best. It would mean the world to him to have his father there.
While the Monarch remains eager to support military veterans and maintain ties with his grandchildren, Prince William reportedly views any public appearance alongside Prince Harry as a move that could destabilize the monarchy and overshadow ongoing royal work.
The heir, unhappy with his father’s appearance, has made his thoughts and feelings known.
Author Richard Fitzwilliams Warns Of Disastrous Division Between Monarch And Heir
The prospect of King Charles making a high-profile appearance at his younger son’s flagship military charity event has highlighted differences in strategy between the Monarch and Prince William.
Emphasizing the severe risks posed by a disagreement at the top of the Royal Family, author Richard Fitzwilliams explained via a lengthy interview in the Daily Mail: “The most disastrous thing that could happen to the monarchy would be a falling out between King Charles and Prince William, who, together with his family, is its future.”
Highlighting the Prince of Wales‘ specific concerns regarding how Prince Harry’s presence impacts palace publicity, Fitzwilliams noted: “William is likely to be concerned about the effects of future visits. These are likely to overshadow the valuable work the monarchy is doing in the media. It would be best if they happened privately with no one knowing, and great progress might then be made, though that does not tend to be the Sussexes’ way.”
King Charles Balances Armed Forces Duty Against Ongoing Sussex Tension
Despite Prince William’s opposition, King‘s supporters point to his official position as Head of the Armed Forces as a compelling reason to support the Invictus Games.
Explaining why the Monarch feels a duty to attend the military event, the royal reporter stated: “After all, he is the head of the armed forces, and it undeniably is a valuable military charity.”
At the same time, the Monarch’s desire to see his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, remains a driving factor behind ongoing reconciliation efforts.
Detailing the King’s personal motivations and the continued communication from Montecito, Fitzwilliams claimed: “We know the King understandably wanted to see his grandchildren, and the Sussexes have subsequently been silent personally, but briefings have not ceased. They obviously plan future visits. They want the King to see more of his grandchildren, which is totally understandable. Things will undoubtedly be better arranged regarding accommodation and, hopefully, security in the future.”
Prince William Signals Firm Disapproval Through Calculated Public Moves
The Prince of Wales, while boiling inside, has refrained from making any scenes or going against King Charles’ wishes. Isntead he has made his position clear through carefully planned public appearances.
In describing how Prince William had shown his opposition at earlier family meetings, the commentator revealed: “William showed public disdain for his (wayward) brother by playing polo with Catherine’s support on the day the Sussexes met the King and Queen. If this were a one-off, few could object. However, it is clearly part of a strategy. Harry and Meghan’s royal links mean everything, and Harry is wonderful with children.”
Warning that any uncoordinated efforts between the King and his heir could inflict long-term damage on the Crown, the author added: “When there are disputes between families, reconciliation should always be welcomed. However, it often comes at a cost.”
Cautioning that public confusion will persist until the royal leadership presents a unified strategy, the famed commentator concluded: “The optics of the way the King and William are handling this issue are fuelling reports, backed up by royal author Tina Brown last September, of serious divisions between them. Since it is essential for the future of the monarchy that they speak with one voice on substantive issues, this is damaging for the monarchy and confusing for the public.”
Sources have confirmed the Daily Beast that Prince William will never forgive Prince harry and Meghan Markle for their revelations and accusations.
The future King blames the Hollywood royals for Kate Middleton‘s stress and illness and will keep them from future coronations and family events.
