Following a high-stakes UK visit in which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brought their seven-year-old son, Prince Archie, and five-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, for a fun-filled family reunion with King Charles III at Highgrove House, the illusion of a total royal reconciliation has come crashing down.
Despite the warm gathering between the King and his grandchildren, Princess Kate is taking Meghan down a notch, making it clear that a brief family get-together with King Charles and Queen Camilla cannot erase years of public broadsides.
Kate Middleton Is Not Ready To Sweep Historical Damage Under The Rug
Royal insiders have said that Prince William and Kate Middleton are dead set on not sweeping their grievances under the rug, even when King Charles extended an olive branch by setting up an intimate private dinner for the Sussexes at his country estate.
Commenting on the impossibility of undoing past harm, a source said, “There are some things that can’t be undone.” In expressing the Firm position taken by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the source added: “However much Charles wants everyone to move on, William and Kate don’t think it’s possible to build bridges without first building trust—and, right now, that doesn’t exist.”
Princess Kate Exposes Deep Emotional Hurt
Even though Meghan Markle’s return to the UK was presented as a happy and enjoyable occasion for the young Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to get together with their grandfather, the Princess of Wales is still deeply hurt by the public row that followed the Sussexes’ withdrawal from royal life.
A source speaking about Princess Kate’s difficulties in the ongoing dispute said: “Kate is normally incredibly forgiving. She much prefers to forgive and forget, rather than hold grudges—but this is completely different. She feels like she was dragged into a very public dispute that she never wanted any part of. She can usually put difficult situations behind her, but she’s still carrying the hurt of what happened. She can’t file those feelings away just because someone tells her it’s better for the monarchy.”
According to royal insiders who spoke to The Daily Beast, Prince William and his spouse believe that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need to first apologize for the accusations, interviews, and bombshell allegations brought against them in Spare and the Netflix documentaries.
Prince Harry strongly believes that his estranged brother and sister-in-law are the ones who should be apologizing for the way they treated Markle when she joined the Royal Family.
Royal Experts Slam Brand Expansion After Secret Trip
The clash between the King’s wish to maintain family unity and Princess Kate’s strict boundaries has once again sparked vigorous debate among media analysts and Royal Family followers.
Criticizing the intense media attention being given to the Sussexes’ continued actions, the royal commentator Chris Riches said: “US TV had a stomach-churning, post-Megxit period of relentless obsession with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with every entitled gripe and whine given wall-to-wall coverage.”
Expressing skepticism over future public relations efforts following the discreet Highgrove reunion, Riches claimed: “Thank heavens that ‘Sussex fatigue’ wound down, but new reports suggest ‘Brand Sussex 2.0’ could be back with a vengeance and more sickly sweet than ever.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have to focus on the King for now.
