Meghan Markle appears to have decided that she is not going to let one brutally blunt comment from one of Hollywood’s most powerful entertainment executives become the final word on her career, because after Ari Emanuel was asked where he thought her professional future was heading and responded, “Here’s the great thing: I don’t have to think about that anymore,” her representatives moved quickly to clarify something that had suddenly become the center of the conversation: Ari may no longer be personally involved with Meghan, but William Morris Endeavor, the powerhouse agency he leads, still represents her and Archewell.
Meghan’s Team Wants the Record Straight
The distinction is important because Emanuel’s comment landed with a force that went far beyond a routine change in representation.
Meghan signed with WME in April 2023, with the agency expected to help expand her work across entertainment, production and brand partnerships, and Emanuel was initially one of the high-profile figures associated with her representation. Reports later emerged that Emanuel had stepped away from her account, and the latest reporting indicates that he and Meghan parted ways professionally in 2025.
But WME has now made its position clear.
The agency confirmed to PEOPLE that it continues to represent Meghan and Archewell, meaning that Emanuel’s personal departure does not amount to Meghan being dumped by WME altogether.
That is a significant clarification.
Because once Emanuel made his comment, the story immediately became much bigger than one Hollywood executive no longer being involved with one client.
Suddenly, the question was whether Meghan’s Hollywood career was in trouble.
The problem for Meghan is that Emanuel did not give a long explanation that could easily be dissected and softened. He gave one sentence.
