A recent plane crash has taken the life of a pilot, Lake Little, who was just 18 years old and was also gearing up to compete in a Mississippi beauty pageant later in the month.
Details about the incident are still vague and somewhat conflicting, but what has been revealed so far is that the woman was practicing her takeoff routine, as well as landing the plane.
At some point during the exercise, her plane crashed at the nearby golf course. Little, who planned to study speech pathology and audiology at the University of Southern Mississippi, was alone in the airplane and was severely burned in the crash.
She was reportedly hoping to one day be able to fly for FedEx and had been practicing her routines for quite a while, according to people close to her.
Many expressed their sadness over the incident, with various people from Little’s circles coming forward to explain how lively her personality was.
Her parents — Alderman David Little and his wife, Pattie, are from Starkville. Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant tweeted: “Such sad news about Lake Little. A beautiful light has passed from this world far too soon.”
Mississippi’s Miss Hospitality pageant Angella Baker stated: “Lake had a vibrant personality. She was full of life and lived it to the fullest. She was very passionate about flying and had just recently received her private pilot’s license.”
The tragic incident has touched many people on social media. One person stated: “Many prayers Lake for your family and loved ones ?? heaven has a sweet angel home.”
Another commenter added: “Rest in peace…I didn’t know you, but I saw an article, and you seemed like such an angel on earth. You are with your father in heaven now .. God bless your family and all those who knew you. ??♂️?????”
The incident is still under substantial investigation, and people have been calling for more information ever since the crash became known.
At the same time, authorities have been somewhat reluctant to be more open about their investigation.
It is still not known what caused the crash in the first place and whether it was a malfunction of the machine or pilot error.
Little was reportedly a skilled pilot for her age and was taking her courses seriously.
It is not known if she was the one who caused the crash initially, or if she was without fault.
More information will likely be released once the Safety Board has concluded its investigation into the incident. Little wanted to open a clinic to help children and the elderly.
