A shocking video clip showing former NBA star Delonte West in a pitiful condition has started circulating the Internet recently.
As a result, people that were close to the retired basketball player during the height of his career have teamed up to help him; however, they could.
In the footage, the sports legend could be seen sitting on the road with his hands handcuffed behind his back.
According to West, who is talking to a policeman in the video, he was attacked by an armed man and was heavily beaten.
His theory was later confirmed by his ex-agent, Aaron Goodwin, who stated that his former employer was indeed involved in a fight and was undergoing medical treatment for the wounds that he suffered.
Following the incident, Jameer Nelson, who played basketball together with West at Saint Joseph’s University, tried to express his support for his former teammate in a Twitter message that stated he was sick of seeing the videos of Delonte.
Nelson furthermore claimed that even though he did not know what exactly was going on with West, he was still trying to be there for him as a friend.
Nelson was not the only one to reach out and offer help, as West’s former coach from college, Phil Martelli also wrote about his support for West.
Apparently Delonte West was seen getting beat up in the street this Morning. I went to school with him and it’s crazy to see just how his life has gone downhill since the NBA. pic.twitter.com/chm6Sbu9h6

Martelli shared a post on social media, which said that he has talked with many others willing to help, and people from the basketball network were reaching out to get the former player the professional help he needed.
A Maryland police officer has been suspended after the video found its way to the Internet. West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2008.
Fans have taken to social media to express their sadness after the video surfaced. It also sparked a larger conversation about mental health.
One person wrote: “This is so sad. People love and celebrate you when you have something to give and they have something to get. This man is in crisis. It is heartbreaking. He has to want help. I sure hope he gets what he needs.”
A second commenter explained: “Damn‼️ ? someone get this man some mental help other there ??.”
A third follower added: “Praying for him. Image doing something your whole life, then poof someone or something takes it from you. Now you have to figure out who you are without it. I’m sure he’s just lost right now. Praying for him deep today.”
Some still say that the cop did not really do anything wrong.
