Carys Zeta Douglas — the daughter of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas — has celebrated her 18th birthday, with her famous parents posting sweet tributes to mark the special occasion.
Taking to her Instagram on Tuesday, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 51, posted a photo of herself with Carys as a young child and another more recent snap of her daughter wearing a floral swimsuit and posing against a body of water.
The first photo showed Catherine Zeta-Jones holding her daughter — who looked about three or four years old — and cradling her head tenderly as she looked towards the camera with a white and pink dress and a bow in her hair.
In the second photo, in which the colors had been edited for some striking contrasts, an almost entirely black and white Carys wearing a swimsuit stood against a crystal clear blue backdrop of water in full color.
Catherine Zeta-Jones captioned the post saying that her daughter was “everything,” adding that Carys brought “joy” to her life.
She then remarked on the text which Carys had sent to her at 5 a.m. that morning, which Catherine had screenshotted and posted alongside the two pictures of her daughter, thanking her mother for giving birth to her.
“That’s the kind of woman you are,” she said – and praised Carys’s wisdom beyond her years, her beauty, generosity, and sense of humor.
Making a light-hearted joke, the Chicago actress told Carys that her “Japanese needs some work” before saying “I love you angel” and signing the note off with “mama.”
Carys’s father, Michael Douglas, 76, also posted a public birthday message for his daughter, wishing her the “best 18th birthday” any young lady “could possibly have,” and telling her how proud he is.
The legendary actor wrote: “Honey this is your Dad, wishing you the best 18th birthday any young lady could possibly have. You know how much I love you, how proud I am of you, and the joy I have watching you grow into the young lady you are turning out to be! Happy birthday, Carys! I love you! Dad.”
She replied to both her parents’ posts, thanking them for “everything they do” and telling her father, Michael Douglas, he was her “biggest inspiration.”
Although the young woman is not very active on social media, many fans of the family wished her a very happy birthday on her Instagram page.
She has posted twice in the past eight months.
