On a recent episode of Spotify’s Drive podcast, Tom Brady shared that his children are growing up with the luxury of having maids, chauffeurs, traveling via private jets, and always being waited on hand and foot.
The athlete and father of three confessed: “We have people that clean for us. We have people that make our food, and we have people that drive us to the airport if we need that. … We get off a plane, and there’s people waiting there for us, and we get ushered in.”
The former New England Patriots said his money makes it difficult to explain to his children this is not how the real world works.
He shared his frustration with being a rich dad by saying: “That’s my kids’ reality, which is the hard part to say, ‘Guys, this is not the way reality really is. … What can we do about that?'”
Tom Brady went on to confess that along with his wife, they try to make life as simple and ordinary as can be for their children by creating “experiences that are more along the lines of what most kids go through.”
However, he was forced to admit that the truth is that his three children will “still have experiences that a lot of kids never do have.”
Brady went on to reveal why the concept of being wealthy has him and Bündchen losing sleep at night over their children’s future.
He reminded listeners that he and his spouse had almost poor to humble beginnings.
He claimed: “My wife grew up in rural Brazil, the farthest state south, Rio Grande do Sul, very small kind of farming town, very simple girl. There are two bedrooms in their house — one for their parents and one for her and her five sisters.”
He went on to say: “I grew up in, I would say, a middle-class family in California. My dad worked his ass off for our family. My mom stayed at home [, and] took care of us kids, and I saw my mom work every day to make food for us at night and wash our clothes.”
He also explained that the modest beginnings have made them understand and appreciate their privilege.
Tom Brady concluded by saying that while he has “screwed up a lot of things” because of “the reality of being a parent,” he hopes his children will understand that the luxuries they access are just treats.
Many have slammed the star by saying his complaining about his wealth while others are hungry and homeless.
