At the age of 96, Queen Elizabeth II now has 70 years behind her as the British Monarch.
She has seen many prime ministers come and go, handled her fair share of family scandals, and has gained a tone of experience.
The masses do not always approve of Queen Elizabeth’s way of doing things — but she gets the job done.
Case in point — how she handled Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s decision to step down from their royal duties and eventually go nuclear with their numerous interviews and truth bombs, creating a great divide in the royal family.
Believe it or not, the sit-downs with Oprah Winfrey and appearances on podcasts were the tip of the iceberg; Prince Harry and Markle were hurt and angered by how royals treated them and could have gone even further.
However, Queen Elizabeth was able to brilliantly defuse the other bombs that the husband and wife had hoped to drop.
According to Duncan Larcombe, the former royal editor of The Sun, when Prince Harry and Markle made their surprise visit to London in April, they had a private meeting with the Queen.
The royal expert said Her Majesty discovered that Prince Harry had “spiked his guns” during the private meeting, and there was no hope of a reconciliation.
Thanks to the Queen’s unmatched experience and wisdom, she was able to “calm down the situation” with Prince Harry and Markle “once again proving her value as the monarch by stabilizing the family in times of turmoil,” according to Express.
Larcombe said: “Going back to Britain and seeing the Queen in particular, when he saw the Queen on his way to the Invictus Games earlier this year, I wonder then, really, I think Prince Harry seems to have slightly spiked his guns. However, I believe that the Queen has slightly calmed the situation down.”
Queen Elizabeth was able to calm nerves and have Prince Harry, Markle, and their young children — Archie and Lilibet attend the Platinum Jubilee in June.
While Prince William and Kate Middleton declined to interact with Prince Harry and Markle, the Queen saw them twice.
It is believed that she has invited Prince Harry and Markle to vacation with her in Scotland this summer. The power couple is unlikely to accept this invitation.
With Prince Harry’s upcoming book, it is not known if the detente effort led by the Queen will remain in place.
