Gigi Hadid is saying out with old and hello to the much older. After her very public split from One Direction artist Zayn Malik, Hadid has confirmed that she is now dating legendary actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
Note that the Oscar winner is 47 years old, while Gigi Hadid is 27. Many were baffled by the burgeoning romance because, for the past decade, Leonardo DiCaprio has gone out of his way never to date a woman/model who is more than 25 years old.
However, it seems that he has decided to make an exception for Gigi Hadid because she is an exceptional woman. The rumors of the relationship between the two stars had been going around for several weeks.
Over the weekend, photos surfaced via The Daily Mail confirming that things are heating up between the pair.
The new power couple was spotted having a romantic and cozy moment during a New York Fashion Week afterparty hosted by DiCaprio’s close friends — Richie Akiva and Darren Dzienciol.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid appeared in a deep conversation despite being surrounded by a large group of people.
The Hollywood legend, who seems to be really into Gigi Hadid, was seen gently touching and caressing her hand at one point.
A source close to DiCaprio confessed to PEOPLE that he is fascinated by his lady love because of this surprising reason: “He really likes that she has her life together. She has a child, and she’s mature. He wants to be with someone who has the same idea of good causes and political views like he does.”
Ouch, that must hurt his many ex-girlfriends who also have epic careers.
Another insider told E!: “He’s enjoying being single,’ adding that the couple are ‘not exclusive… neither of them wants a relationship. Gigi and Leo have hung out multiple times and are into each other. Gigi thinks he’s a really cool guy.”
Other reports claimed that DiCaprio is doing damage control and trying to appear more serious because his love life is an embarrassment and a joke to many.
DiCaprio, who has dated an endless list of women, including Gisele Bündchen, Bar Refaeli, Blake Lively, Toni Garrn, and Nina Agdal, and most recently Camila Morrone, is often ridiculed for being obsessed with hot and young stars.
Ricky Gervais roasted DiCaprio while hosting the Golden Globes. He said: “It’s almost three hours long – it’s an epic. Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere, and by the end, his date was too old for him. Even Prince Andrew’s like, ‘Come on, mate, you’re nearly 50, son.”
Actress Rebel Wilson also had some fun at the BAFTAs when she turned to 20-year-old Emilia Jones and said: “I’ll give you the award for the person in the crowd, Leonardo DiCaprio would find most attractive… He does like them young.”
