While Tom Brady was trying to figure out if he would retire, unretire from football, his then-wife, Gisele Bündchen, saw the writing on the wall.
The wealthy supermodel understood before everyone else that her 13-year marriage was over, and there was no turning back. On October 28, Brady and Bündchen announced to the world that they had finalized their divorce.
Weeks before the final decision was taken, reports surfaced claiming that Brady was not ready to break his marriage.
Even though he was unwilling to turn his back from the football field, Brady was said to be hoping they would work something out.
Months prior, Gisele Bündchen had already made up her mind that it was time to move on, literally. In the first week of August, Bündchen visited multiple mansions in Miami, Florida.
It has been confirmed by Page Six that Gisele Bündchen secretly purchased an $11.5 million Miami Beach home on October 6.
The property is located directly across the creek from Tom Brady’s mega-mansion, which is still under construction.
A source close to the businesswoman told the media outlet: “Gisele was actively looking at homes in Miami Beach even before Tom took his break from the NFL, which indicates that she was already done with the marriage and moving on.”
The mansions are in close proximity for the well-being of the children who can easily go back and forth between the two parents — the former couple shares son Benjamin, 12, and daughter Vivian, 9.
An insider claimed: “You could literally swim from Gisele’s place to Tom’s — not that they would — but both homes will include a dock, so it would be very easy for them to co-parent their children while living so close to each other.”
It is believed that Bündchen will tear down the old home and use the 18,400-square-foot waterfront plot to build her eco-friendly dream estate for herself and her children.
In February, Bündchen bought a $1.25 million property which is just a mile away from her new multi-million dollar mansion.
According to Page Six, she will use the smaller home for her staff. In late October, the former power couple shared separate statements explaining that while they could not make romance work, they plan on focusing their energy on co-parenting their two children.
The mother of two said: “With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children, whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care, and attention they greatly deserve.”
She continued: “The decision to end a marriage is never easy, but we have grown apart, and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”
Brady also released a statement on his Instagram page that read: “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude, for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way.”
Since splitting from Brady, Bündchen has been seen strolling in Miami and on vacation in Costa Rica, looking radiant.
