A source close to the family spoke to the Daily Mail and revealed that Suri Cruise, 16, is already looking into colleges that will help develop her craft and talent.
The teen is hoping to make a career in the fashion industry. A person familiar with the situation revealed that Suri Cruise will be ringing in the life-changing milestone with her mother, and like always, Tom Cruise will be absent.
The Hollywood megastar is believed to be the epitome of the absent father. Reports claimed he completely cut contact with Suri one year after divorcing Katie Holmes in June 2012.
Sources revealed that the filmmaker has no relationship with his youngest child because he is a member of the controversial Church of Scientology.
The father, who is estranged from his daughter, will not help her pick a college and help guide her as she enters this new chapter.
The publication claims that all parental responsibilities fall on Katie Holmes. The actress is said to be hoping that her only child will pick a college in New York or nearby to be close to home.
The media outlet revealed: “Katie Holmes’ 16-year-old daughter Suri has already started applying to colleges with the help of her mother – but the teen’s famous father, Tom Cruise, won’t have a hand in helping her because the actor ‘has no part’ in his child’s life.”
According to the insider, Holmes is delighted by her daughter’s career path.
The pal shared: “Suri, who turns 17 next month, ‘has sent some applications out’ and is ‘leaning towards’ studying fashion in New York City – a choice that would make her style-savvy mother, Katie, very pleased.”
Holmes is said to be going through a roller coaster of emotions as Suri gets ready to leave the nest and branch out on her own.
The insider stated: “Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective, adding that Katie is ‘overwhelmed’ by the idea of her daughter going off to college.”
While Mr. Cruise failed to play a part in his daughter’s life in the past ten years, he is making the grand gesture of paying almost half of a million dollars for her to receive the best education in the university of her choice.
The source shared: “Despite their estranged relationship, Tom is apparently holding up his financial end of their split and will be covering Suri’s college tuition even as his $400,000 a month child support payments end when she turns 18.”
