This is not the news King Charles III was hoping to hear as the new Monarch of the United Kingdom — his people do not really want him.
This week, a new poll surfaced via Express, and it dealt a massive blow to His Majesty. A survey that Lord Ashcroft set up revealed that voters across the Commonwealth did not want King Charles as their ruler.
People would want to see King Charles abdicate just months into his reign. British people and others say the heir to the throne, Prince William, is better suited for the job.
According to the media outlet, the pollster and former chairman of UK’s Conservative Party surveyed 22,701 people across the Commonwealth in the 15 nations.
The company questioned focus groups in Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands.
Those, who took part in the survey, agreed that Prince William would “do better” than his father. They believed that Prince William’s youth and freshness were very valuable to keeping the monarchy going strong.
Queen Camilla also received some negative reviews, according to the pollsters. Many would prefer Kate Middleton as their Queen because she can attract large crowds.
The media outlet claimed:
One respondent from New Zealand said he has “done a lot wrong” and that William is “doing exceptionally well,” something people are “invested in.” Another New Zealander poll was similarly scathing of the King, as they insisted crowds greeting the couple would be “twice or three times the size” of the current monarchs. One respondent from Belize told a focus group that the Prince is “younger,” “vibrant,” and “thinks differently” from his father. They added that they thought he would “do a better job” as Monarch.
King Charles received this surprising blow just weeks after royal sources confirmed that he and Queen Camilla were not thrilled by Kate Middleton and Prince William’s glitz and glamor.
The King is said to be unhappy with the pair’s decision to steal the spotlight. Royal expert Richard Eden, via Palace Confidential from the Mail, explained that the Princess of Wales‘ popularity is “unsettling” for King Charles and Queen Camilla — but the Palace sees Kate as a “great model for the monarchy.”
Eden shared: “Before the Queen passed away, the royal expert highlighted how there were royal aides who wanted Charles and Camilla to complete as many engagements as possible with William and Kate. I think that was a chance to show that this was the future of the Monarchy and it’s in safe hands, that sort of thing. Now that [Charles and Camilla] are King and Queen, it is slightly different. They want lots of attention for their causes and the things that they feel strongly about, so it could be a bit unsettling if they don’t get that attention.”
Observers say the King will have to share the spotlight with the couple.
Charles is pig headed he believes that everyone should do things his way and that he is the only one that matters but that’s not the way the public see it and if Charles wants to protect the royal family for the future he needs to listen to the people not only about himself and William but also about harry because not doing anything about him it makes him out to be very weak and a complete pushover as far as harry is concerned
