Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have proven time and time again that they could stand on their own without using the Sussex name.
The couple has done so with their Netflix series. The docuseries called Harry & Meghan was one of the most successful projects released by the streaming giant.
Markle accomplished an amazing feat with her Spotify podcast. The short-lived project, which had the name Archetypes, was appreciated for its in-depth research and well-presented interviews.
According to the latest reports, Prince Harry and Markle are at a turning point in their lives and careers and are ready to sever ties with the British royal family.
Prince Harry and his spouse are looking at the possibility of changing their last names. By doing so, King Charles III and Prince William would no longer have any power over them.
The royals could no longer threaten to remove their titles as a form of punishment for their bombastic interviews.
Royal author Tom Bower recently revealed that Prince Harry and Markle are looking for a way to reinvent themselves, especially after losing their major deal with Spotify.
To rebrand themselves, Prince Harry and Markle are seriously thinking about dumping Mountbatten-Windsor and taking Diana, Princess of Wales‘s maiden name instead.
Which implies that the pair would become Harry Spencer and Meghan Spencer.
Claims over a potential rebrand for the couple, who stepped down from their royal duties three years ago, began when it was confirmed that their deal with Spotify had come to an end last week.
Bower talked about the fascinating changes on GB News, telling host Dan Wootton that Markle had always dreamed of being as important as her late mother-in-law, and now she will have her wish.
He said: “What’s really interesting in the rebranding of the Sussexes, is that Meghan decided her real object in life was to be Diana. That has always been her passion, that has also been Harry’s passion and Meghan went to the extent of suggesting that they should drop the name Windsor and take the surname Spencer. So she’d be Meghan Spencer – the new Diana.”
Bower went on to reveal that the plan is being actively discussed in Prince Harry and Markle’s close circle. He said: “They’ve discussed it not only by themselves but with others too. This isn’t something they’ve plucked out of their minds. They were actively trying to recast themselves as Harry and Meghan Spencer.”
He concluded by: “He’d take his mother’s name too. It’s all about the break-off. They’d also give up the Sussex title because instead, you’ve got the new incarnation of Diana.”
Some observers doubt they will go through with the move.
Changing their name won’t change the type of people that they are and I think that alot of people will think that the way that they behave that it would be very disrespectful to Diana because she was nothing like the pair of them she may of liked her men but she never was disrespectful to the royal family especially the late queen this is just another way that they think that they can make money and try and con the public into thinking that they have changed and are now nice people but I’m afraid that they are still about as nice as a rattle snake with the hump
