For a brief moment this past week, several reports surfaced that indicated Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were about to lose all of their lucrative deals and were on the phone begging Tyler Perry for a place to stay.
First, it was confirmed that they lost their mega multi-million dollar deal with Spotify because they were not producing enough content.
Markle gave the company about a dozen episodes of her Archetypes podcast, and Prince Harry delivered nothing.
It has been confirmed that Prince Harry pitched several out-of-this-world ideas to the company that were savagely mocked and rejected.
The announcement from Spotify opened a floodgate of humiliating revelations and scoops in both the American and British press.
Insiders spoke to The Wall Street Journal and the Sun to reveal that Markle and his spouse were in trouble with Netflix.
According to the reports, there is a possibility that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s $100 million deal with Netflix will end in tears. Sources claimed that Netflix might not renew the deal.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams weighed in on the situation by saying that he expects the Montecito royals to fight back so they can get their business miracle.
He stated: “What we are all waiting for is the Sussex’s fightback. Of course, they’ve lost Spotify. There are rumors that they will lose Netflix. And now they have lost their fight for a trademark. It seems as if their empire is about to crumble – but I believe they are biding their time to bite back.”
It seems that Prince Harry and Markle have received some glimmer of hope in the form of a blistering statement issued by Netflix.
A Netflix spokesperson told ET that Prince Harry and Markle delivered the biggest documentary ever, and they have plans to continue to collaborate with the pair on multiple projects in the future.
The statement read: “We value our partnership with Archewell Productions. Harry & Meghan was Netflix’s biggest documentary debut ever, and we’ll continue to work together on a number of projects, including the upcoming documentary series Heart of Invictus.”
A Sussex source spoke to Vanity Fair to give this update on the Netflix deal: “The Netflix deal is in better shape than it ever has been. There are various projects in development that haven’t been announced that all parties are really excited about.”
In a fascinating piece, the Guardian’s Marina Hyde writes that Prince Harry and his spouse have the possibility of remaining highly successful because they are alone in their lucrative field of talking about the Royal Family.
She wrote: “Experience and ratings continue to reveal that where the Sussexes are concerned, people want to watch them complain about their lives and their treatment by the royal family. That is the sole genre in which Meghan and Harry truly pull in the eyeballs—which, considering they are literally the only people working in it, still feels like theirs to dominate.”
Fans believe that the power couple will find ways to stay ahead.
