There are always many angles to a story and the Royal Family is no exception. Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, have been providing the world with their unique perspective on their ongoing transatlantic feud.
After stepping down from their royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, provided the world with a bombshell interview a la Princess Diana and the BBC.
The newly self-exiled couple sat down with Oprah Winfrey, where she quizzed them on some of the harshest and most painful rumors and media leaks that came from the British royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not fail the assignment of telling it all. They revealed the bad, the ugly, and the very dirty about their royal relatives. The pair spoke about racism, suicidal thought, neglect, and more.
This week, a royal author and expert explained what was going on between Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, during the week leading to the biggest interview of the decade.
In an interview with Dan Wootton on the GB News program, Charlotte Griffiths, editor-at-large for the Mail on Sunday, explained that the heir to the throne became sick to his stomach and stopped eating, which caused him to lose some weight at the thought of the hurtful words that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would say during the sit-down.
According to the royal expert, Prince William spent a week without eating and moved away from the family home to deal with the anxiety and stress caused by the interview.
The royal author stated: “What I find quite surprising, and I’ve heard this for a long time now from many different sources, is that in the lead-up to that Oprah interview, William was quite literally sick with worry.”
Griffiths went on to say that the situation took a toll on Prince William: “He was not eating, and he became – not reclusive – but he definitely was hiding away. He went to a Royal residence for a period of time to cut himself off from the world. He was just in bits basically.”
She explained how Middleton stood up for her husband: “And what Kate was doing was standing by her man. Kate was like: ‘I’ve got to stick up for this guy and protect him. He’s being destroyed by this,’ and that probably made her quite steely even though she has this reputation for being shy. But when it comes to protecting her husband, she’s going to step in and protect him.”
After the interview, Prince William was the only member of the Royal Family to speak to the media about the damaging accusation levied against the monarchy. He said: “We’re very much not a racist family.”
In a new piece written by Valentine Low, it was revealed that Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III wanted to take a softer tone in the statement that was issued about the Oprah interview.
However, Prince William and his wife pushed for a harsher statement to punish Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Low wrote in The Times: “They wanted it toughened up a bit. They were both of one mind that we needed something that said that the institution did not accept a lot of what had been said. He said, ‘It is really important that you guys come up with the right way of making sure that we are saying that this does not stand.’ She was certainly right behind him on it.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales are not ready to forget and forgive.
