According to one royal expert, a lot can be said about Queen Camilla, but it cannot be said that she did not embrace Meghan Markle and try to guide her into the Royal Family.
Since leaving the British royal family, Meghan Markle has made two things clear: she was mistreated while in London, and she has no plans to ever return there as a working royal.
However, without lifting a finger, Queen Camilla has more or less dispelled Meghan Markle’s claim that she was not accepted by the royal relatives.
Royal expert and author Andrew Morton claimed that Queen Camilla was willing to go the extra mile for the American actress, something she did not do for Kate Middleton.
It has been revealed that Queen Camilla did not accept “middle-class Middleton” into the fold because she deemed she was not the royal standards.
Morton claimed that during King Charles III‘s 70th birthday celebration, Queen Camilla ignored all protocols to make Markle feel at home.
During the public event, Queen Camilla broke royal protocol to show affection and support for Meghan Markle.
While Queen Camilla has always pushed for Prince William‘s wife to abide by the old and strict rules of the monarchy, she surprised many by kissing Meghan Markle on the cheeks.
Queen Camilla also held Meghan Markle’s hands. The author of Meghan: A Hollywood Princess said the gestures made by King Charles’s wife implied that the Duchess of Sussex had been “accepted” in the family.
Morton said: “This rare royal gesture was a sign of how quickly the American actor had been accepted and treated with genuine affection by the Royal Family.”
He went on to say: “On that day, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who had previously advised Kate Middleton on the finer points of protocol during her royal apprenticeship, was, without saying a word, signaling to the watching world that Meghan was now ‘one of us’.”
While Meghan Markle has never spoken directly about Queen Camilla, she has revealed that she suffered a great deal when she was a working member of the Royal Family.
She revealed that she did not receive any help when she was struggling with mental health issues during her first pregnancy.
She also explained that she was not enough for the royals. Markle confessed: “We landed in Canada and one of our security guards who had been with H for so long, and these guys were so wonderful, I just collapsed in his arms crying.”
She added: “I was like: ‘I tried so hard’, and he was like: ‘I know you did. I know you did ma’am, I know you did’. Like I tried so hard. And that’s the piece that’s really triggering because you go: ‘And it still wasn’t good enough. And you still don’t fit in.'”
Prince Harry, on the other hand, was brutal with Queen Camilla. In interviews and in the pages of Spare, Prince Harry destroyed Queen Camilla by calling her an evil stepmother, a dangerous woman, and the person who sold him out to the press on her way to becoming Queen.
Prince Harry said in an interview: “I see someone who married into this institution and has done everything that she can to improve her own reputation and her own image for her own sake.”
The Sussexes are not returning to England together anytime soon.
