Many royal observers believe that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made a declaration of war against Prince William during their latest meeting.
Prince Harry and his wife are currently in Germany for the Invictus Games. The Montecito couple has attended all the games to cheer on the competitors, who have come from multiple counties hoping to win the gold.
The pair also met with NATO joint force commander General Luigi Miglietta, several other NATO chiefs, and their families.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the members of NATO posed for pictures alongside some of the athletes.
The photos rapidly went viral, with some royal observers pushing the narrative that Prince Harry and Markle made the move to irk Prince William.
The heir to the throne is set to travel to New York next week, where he will meet with United Nations leaders and launch his Earthshot Prize.
Brand and culture expert Nick Ede spoke to the Daily Mail and said the Sussexes’ “decision to pose with NATO chiefs could be a powerplay in the PR battle between the princes and their spouses.”
The expert revealed: “Harry and Meghan know that this is a really good time to shine their lights on both the Invictus Games and other power players too. There will always be a power play between the two brothers and their wives, as they are the most famous pairs on the planet, so all eyes will be on them. With William meeting the UN chiefs next week, the brothers have covered some of the most important and powerful people on the planet. For both of them, this is positive PR, but it also inevitably raises eyebrows as to where they will be going next”.
A close friend of Prince William spoke to the Daily Beast to say that while he believes that it was a deliberate and petty move by Prince Harry to take the light from his moment, he will be the bigger person and not react.
The friend claimed that Prince William’s message is that he is above petty moves. Prince William went on to belittle Prince Harry and Meghan’s ways of doing things.
Prince William’s pal claimed that Prince Harry has to be excused for some of his decisions because he no longer has the royal money and power and needed to put the spotlight on the causes he believes in.
The pal shared: “The reality is that William can click his fingers and organize a fireside chat at Windsor Castle to bring impact to his causes. Harry can’t do that stuff anymore, but that’s the inevitable consequence of his choice to leave the royal family. William is the heir to the throne, and Harry is just a private individual without that access. That’s what he wanted.”
The friend went on to say Prince William has more class than that, and it was just an accident of timing that he and Kate Middleton flew to France to support England during the Rugby World Cup and released a video filmed during the popular sports podcast hosted by Mike Tindall the same day as the Invictus Games began.
