Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no longer hiding in their Montecito mansion for months.
One week after celebrating the success of the Invictus Games and moaning about the disastrous London trip, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle came out to play in the big league and rub elbows with Hollywood royalty.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were front and center at Kevin Costner‘s One805 charity fundraiser in Santa Barbara, California.
The legendary actor, who is catching his breath after his long and ugly divorce from Christine Costner, hosted the One805 LIVE! Fall 2023 fundraiser at his massive 1.4-acre beachfront estate.
Prince Harry and Markle attended the event with some big names including Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Lee DeGeneres and a live performance by Maroon 5.
One805 raises money and provides mental health support to first responders. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex presented Costner with an award at the fundraiser.
Costner delivered the following remarks at the gathering: “Now, I get asked a lot by my friends who have no manners, ‘Kev, what’s this place cost? What’s it worth?’ And I can just simply tell you on a day, like today, it’s worth every penny.”
The Yellowstone star went on to say: “That you’ll be here to celebrate people you’ll maybe never maybe meet. The ones who are the first to rush in. And it’s a place that I’ve had a lot of good luck in my life, and I’ve tried to not throw up a wall around it, so thank you for coming.”
Royal journalist Neil Sean weighed in on the situation to say that Prince Harry and Markle’s big event with Kevin Costner, who was a friend of the late Princess Diana, stole the headlines from King Charles III and Queen Camilla‘s French visit.
He revealed on his show: “We all now know that on the very final day of His Majesty the King and Queen Camilla’s visit to France, just like clockwork, Harry and Megan tried to steal quite literally the world’s headlines by appearing at a ranch alongside The Bodyguard star Kevin Costner. Of course, he is the one-time alleged close friend of Harry’s late mother, the beautiful Princess Diana.”
He went on to point out that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were among the big names at the fundraiser.
He shared: “A lot of people have not picked this up already, this was kind of like one of those big shindig events, where people who are mega-rich invite other rich people or lesser rich people to come along and give a lot of money, well they donate to that particular course. We had some of the wealthiest people there: Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Costner himself, even though he’s just got quite a bit of money for a divorce, you get the picture.”
However, the real story was not the event itself, but the fact that Meghan Markle is back in Hollywood like never before.
He claimed: “The real story behind this particular story is that this was an opportunity to bring Megan back to Hollywood. She was never in Hollywood; she was only ever in Toronto.”
The royal commentator added: “Let’s get that clear: she never made it big anywhere near Hollywood, even though her father was a very respected lighting director.”
The British journalist claimed that Markle made a brilliant move by signing with William Morris Endeavor because they now have two for the price of one, with Prince Harry attending all major events with his wife for free.
He also noted that Costner is part of the WME family. The Fox News writer shared: “Costner is part of the William Morris agency; you got that bit about Megan signing with them about nine months ago, and now they’ve put the two together to try and get some interest back in her.”
He also claimed: “But a piece of the resistance was the fact that, if you remember, they decided not to sign Prince Harry. This is the reason why they don’t need to; they can get him for free so effectively, he goes along to a big event like this and offers to present an award, so they get two for the price of one. Megan gets up close and personal with a former friend, allegedly Princess Diana, and gets worldwide headlines.”
According to Neil Sean, Prince Harry is not winning in this scenario because he is merely there to push his wife’s career and be her bag holder.
He argued: “The only person not doing very well out of this is Prince Harry; perhaps he’s not bothered. He possibly just wants to assist and, of course, guide his wife’s career, he’s incredibly proud of her. But it’s very strange, isn’t it, in this very new technical digital world that William Morris has really literally got Harry for nothing; he’s turning up, he’s there, he’s part of the pictures that are worth a lot of money.”
He applauded the agency by saying: “Kudos if they’d have said, Megan alone, it simply wouldn’t have worked. Harry has yet to work on that element. Many people believe that for now, he’s quite happy to become the bag carrier for his wife, making sure that she gets the connections that she hopes will click her back into the gear that she wanted to be in before joining the British Monarchy.”
