It has been a complicated week for Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, who were dragged into the media after the latest episode of Family Guy aired.
The installment mocked the Montecito royals for being grifters, making millions of dollars on Instagram doing nothing. The royal couple was also dragged for using a private plane to travel to the Caribbean for a short romantic holiday.
Things went from bad to worse when Lady Anne Glenconner, a close friend of Queen Elizabeth II, and Princess Margaret, dropped an insulting and damaging revelation about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Lady Anne Glenconner, a former lady-in-waiting to the late Queen‘s youngest sister, revealed that former presidential candidate and Barack Obama‘s Secretary of State John Kerry made a disparaging remark about the Sussex couple.
Lady Anne Glenconner, who is promoting her book entitled Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown, claimed that John Kerry shared his thoughts about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage during King Charles III‘s Coronation ceremony that took place in May of this year.
Speaking on the Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth podcast, Lady Glenconner said: “I think the thing about Meghan was, she had no idea what was expected of her, really. I think she just thought it was sort of like being another actress, you know. Riding around in a golden coach and everything like that. And actually, being a member of the Royal Family—a lot of it is extremely boring.”
Anne Tennant, Baroness Glenconner, went on to reveal that she sat next to Kerry during the event, and they started chatting.
The conversation quickly turned to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Lady Glenconner, who was briefly engaged to Johnnie Althorp, Princess Diana’s late father, said she asked him, “What do you think in America about Harry and Meghan?”
She continued: “He said “We all feel very, very sorry for Harry. I think I can just leave it at that.”
In a matter of hours, Kerry slammed Lady Glenconner’s story by sharing an official statement via his spokesperson.
The spokesperson said: “Secretary Kerry does not remember being asked that question, but as a father in the public eye himself, he has nothing but empathy for people working through a family matter who all deserve privacy and compassion.”
Many say this time around, Prince Harry and Meghan are having that last laugh because Kerry has vindicated them.
Lady Glenconner shared her negative view of Markle by saying: “I think the thing about Meghan was, she had no idea what was expected of her really. I think she just thought it was sort of like being another actress, you know. Riding around in a golden coach and everything like that. And actually, being a member of the royal family — a lot of it is extremely boring.”
She sang loud praises of Kate Middleton by revealing: “I think she’s fantastic. I don’t know her very, very well, but they come to Mustique quite often. I think she’s wonderful, and Prince William. They’re so good together. And lovely children. And she looks stunning, doesn’t she? That’s a help. I think she was very well brought up by Carole.”
The Sussexes win this round.
