The influencer, who chronicles her life for her half-million followers on TikTok, confessed that she went through a painful divorce in 2018 after six years of marriage to Evan Mathis.
Katie Mathis and her former spouse share three children. Megan Mathis and the ex-athlete have one child.
She explained: “We got together when I was 21, and he was 29 — there was a lot of growth. We realized we were completely different people — he wanted a certain person, and I wasn’t that. He wasn’t what I wanted, either. I got pregnant at 21 and got married at 22, then divorced at 28.”
The photographer and social media creator said that for a brief period, she cut all ties with her ex-husband.

However, they reconnected as good friends after she went through a painful breakup. She also struck up a great relationship with Megan Mathis.
Katie Mathis said that many were baffled when she and her new beau attended Megan and Evans’s wedding.
Katie Mathis said, “I think people think there is something weird going on, and a lot of people have disbelief and say how it’s not possible. People don’t understand what we’re going through; you have to do what you have to do so your kids have great experiences.”
She added: “My ex-husband and his new wife went above and beyond to make me feel honored at their wedding. I was even a part of the bridal party. I got ready with the bride, and she even got me a robe—it was very sweet. Furthermore, I didn’t find it strange getting invited to the wedding, but I know a lot of people did.”

This week, she did an interview with Insider to reveal that her partner moved in to be a stepfather figure to her three daughters.
Katie Mathis and her boyfriend live in a detached apartment above her ex’s garage. She told Insider that while her children are delighted by “the arrangement, blending all the members of the family,” which includes four adults, four children, seven cats, five dogs, and four fish tanks, it has been an adjustment.

The benefits include a large team to co-parent and raise their four children. She claimed: “Now we have a larger team of parents able to share responsibilities. It’s much easier to manifest what we all want out of life when we are collectively cocreating.”
However, there is a downside, such as “confusion” and “pushback” from the children, but they are handling it in therapy.
She concluded by saying: “They tell us every single day, at least once — all of them — that they’re so happy that I’ve moved in. It makes the harder moments worth it.”
