It seems that Prince William and his spouse, Kate Middleton, are doing what couples in long-term relationships are often forced to do — divide to better conquer.
In politics, often the candidate would visit one state while the spouse would travel to the opposite end of the country to push the same message. Barack and Michelle Obama were great at that.
Even Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to split their business endeavors — with one focusing more on Hollywoodesque projects and the other doing paid charity events such as documentaries.
In the past few months, Prince William and Kate Middleton have decided to take this route. For example, Prince William flew to New York and later to Singapore to promote the Earthshot event, while Kate Middleton visited several charities in England.
However, very rapidly, Kate Middleton was shamed for stepping out on her own and becoming more independent.
One royal source was quick to remind the mother of three that she should remember the wise advice given to her by Queen Camilla who is an expert on how to keep a prince.
An insider, who spoke to In Touch, cited a quote from royal biographer Robert Lacey from the book Battle of Brothers to put Middleton in her place: “She’s asserting her independence and starting to ignore a piece of heartfelt advice Queen Camilla gave her long before she wed William. Camilla confided to Kate the secret of hanging on to a busy prince: Fit your timetable — well, basically your whole life — around his.”
Prince William and his wife are said to be secure and comfortable enough in their two-decade-long romance to be able to take on solo projects to better represent the monarchy.
Additionally, the future King and Queen have no choice but to take on the “workload” because of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to exit their royal duties and the scandals surrounding Prince Andrew.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s decision to better manage their schedules is being scrutinized.
The insider went on to reveal: “William and Kate’s marriage has really been tested in the last year or so, and they’re cracking under the pressure.”
The source also explained: “Kate and William’s joint appearances have always been wildly popular, but now they’re doing more on their own. Any married couple would feel the strain of working together all day, every day. And just like his father was with his mother, Princess Diana, William has begun to resent how much more beloved she is. He likes doing events on his own because Kate draws all the spotlight when they’re together.”
