Meghan Markle‘s recent appearance looked amateurish. It seems that being a royal for the past few years has made Markle forget how to be a Hollywood star.
On the red carpet for Variety‘s Power of Women event, Markle smiled and laughed awkwardly as she attempted to give the camera her best side.
Things went from awkward to rather uncomfortable when she was gently shooed off the red carpet for taking too much time and space.
However, what was rather strange was the fact that Prince Harry’s wife came empty-handed.
No one expected the former actress to show up with a bottle of wine and pecan pie, but she was supposed to be selling and promoting something.
Normally, high-profile stars hit the red carpet and attend fancy soirées and galas when they have projects to push or debut.
Imagine Beyoncé appearing at the Macy’s Parade just to flash a smile, or Taylor Swift sitting for an interview with no new music or tour to announce.
Markle, who recently signed with a prestigious agency, had nothing lined up, no new projects for Netflix, no podcast, no date for the relaunch of Tig, and no comments about a potential book.
Markle did have multiple empty promises about things that make people feel things that will eventually appear at an unknown date on a mysterious platform.
She said: “Things that make people feel, I was going to say good, but it’s more than that. Things that make people feel something. And feel a sense of community. We have so many exciting things on the slate…I can’t wait until we can announce them. Just really proud of what we’re creating.”
Royal commentator Richard Eden weighs in to say that Markle seems to confirm that her future and career are out of their hands.
He said: “She posed for photographers like the wannabe starlet she once was before being rushed along impatiently by another guest. Her interview emphasized that success is no longer in her own hands. She talked about the unnamed “exciting” new projects that her television company, Archewell Productions, ‘can’t wait to announce. But if and when she does announce them will depend entirely on their paymasters at Netflix.”
Markle’s former friend and royal reporter, Omid Scobie said in a new interview that Prince Harry and Markle are winging it career-wise.
While promoting his upcoming book Endgame, he was asked what he believes the pair’s future looks like, Scobie told the French publication Paris Match: “I can’t predict their future. I’m not even sure they know what they want.”
Some observers called this answer very telling.
