Tom Cruise calmly and quietly used the holiday season to make a rather painful revelation to his close friends and family members.
The action star confirmed that his relationship with daughter, Suri Cruise, was over, apparently for good. Tom Cruise and his ex-wife, Katie Holmes, share a 17-year-old daughter — Suri Cruise.
Holmes and Cruise parted ways in 2012, with the actor confirming that his strong ties to the Church of Scientology played an important role in the divorce.
Cruise remained in California and eventually moved to Florida and London for his acting career and to play an active part in the church, which has headquarters in these three locations.
As for Holmes, she moved to New York with her only child. Holmes raised Suri as a single mother, with Cruise paying a large sum for child support.
Close friends and family members have confirmed to The Daily Mail and Page Six that in the past 12 years, Cruise has not communicated or played even a minor role in Suri’s life.
While promoting a project, Brooke Shields, who was very close to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, revealed that it was during one Christmas holiday that she and many others discovered the extent of the rift that existed in the Cruise/Holmes family.
Cruise used holiday cards to make it clear that he and his second daughter were no longer in touch. Shields explained that every Christmas she received a lovely $126 white coconut bundt cake made by Doan’s Bakery from Cruise along with a card.
When he was married to Holmes, it was a beautiful family portrait that featured the trio — Tom, Katie, and Suri.
However, gradually, Tom Cruise removed Katie Holmes from the Christmas card — which is understandable because they were divorced.
However, this is where the situation got heartbreaking for those receiving the cards — Tom Cruise made the ruthless decision not to have Suri on the card. Tom Cruise posed for the annual card alone.
It is one thing to divorce an adult, but did he divorce his daughter too? Shields told PEOPLE: “It was from them and Suri, so it was the three of them. Then soon it was no Suri and no Katie and just Tom.”
The actress concluded by saying that Cruise eventually stopped sending the cake and card and cut off all contact with her.
She shared: “Then it went from just Tom for a while to not every holiday. And then the cake stopped.”
It is unlikely that she will be receiving the card again.
