Prince William and his younger brother, Prince Harry, have butted heads for a long list of reasons over the years.
However, according to a royal author, one of the strangest reasons for some drama might be the fact that Prince Harry was left baffled and upset by Prince William’s obsession with his in-laws.
Oddly enough, a couple of years later, Prince Harry has found himself in the same situation. According to the book by royal expert and author Tina Brown, Prince Harry could not understand Prince William’s obsession with his in-laws, Carole and Michael Middleton.
Prince William changed his habits once he became romantically involved with Kate Middleton. The writer claimed that Prince William started spending a lot of time with the Middletons during his breaks, vacations, and holidays.
Prince William fully enjoyed the activities that the Middleton participated in. Prince Harry found Kate Middleton’s family boring and unsophisticated, and he had a tough time accepting the man his brother had become.
The author stated: “Harry felt displaced by their bougie family unit, and couldn’t understand his brother’s obsession with his Middleton in-laws, whose Bucklebury world bored Harry to tears. The [Waleses] had become a tight unit, and William was a full-on Windsor country bumpkin.”
The expert added: “On weekends when he wasn’t chez Middleton, he was tramping the grounds of Anmer Hall, the red-brick Georgian mansion on the Sandringham Estate that the Queen gave the couple as a wedding present, wearing a flat cap and tweed jacket like his ‘turnip toff’ Norfolk farmer friends.”
The writer noted that Prince William was fully embraced by the Middleton family because he was seen as the ideal son-in-law.
Joe Little, the managing editor of Majesty Magazine, told The Daily Express: “William fitted into the Middleton family very quickly and they took to him as a future son-in-law. I think also a bit of stability and grounding and a bit of normality that William perhaps wasn’t too familiar with when growing up because clearly his parents’ marriage was facing difficulties when he was a child and he was very aware of that and eventually their marriage disintegrated. With the Middletons, he got stability and a bit of normality, so for that William will forever be grateful.”
It is the pot calling the kettle black because Prince Harry is extremely close to his mother-in-law. Meghan Markle‘s mother, Doria Ragland often stays with Prince Harry and Markle in their Montecito mansions.
She travels with them on work and business trips. Doria Ragland often visited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they lived in London.
