In late 2023, King Charles III was given one of the biggest stages in the media to speak to the British people.
For the second time in his life, King Charles delivered a Christmas message to the British people and the rest of the world.
Millions tuned in to discover the words of comfort and encouragement from His Majesty. King Charles shared his gratitude with the nation and praised them for being strong and resilient during tough times.
The Sovereign highlighted the works of several members of the Royal Family, including the heir to the throne, Prince William, his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children, who were present throughout the year to bring cheers to the British people.
King Charles sang the praises of his sister, Anne, Princess Royal, who is once again the hardest-working royal of the year.
He went on to talk about Jesus‘s message to the world about having a life of serving “those less fortunate.”
The Monarch also honored the “selfless army that forms the backbone of our society, helping others.”
Many royal watchers were quick to point out that Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, were snubbed in The King‘s speech.
The King’s decision was deemed the final blow and insult to Prince Harry and Markle, who have chosen to step down from their royal duties and bash the Royal Family for fame and fortune.
Via Express, royal author Emily Ferguson explained why King Charles made the right call to ignore his son and daughter-in-law: “In the past year, the couple has plunged the Royal Family into several PR nightmares, first with the release of their Netflix docuseries, followed by Harry’s memoir and subsequent TV interviews.”
She added: “They have also barely returned to the UK, with Harry only fleetingly attending his father’s Coronation in May and Meghan not having stepped foot here since the late Queen’s funeral in September 2022.”
She went on to say it was a kick in the teeth for the power couple, who were also banned from attending Christmas in London while Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Duchess Fergie, took center stage.
King Charles used the end of the year to deliver blow after blow to Prince Harry and Markle. He declined to mention them in the speech and omitted them from his documentary watched by millions.
Express note: “Furthermore, there is also no mention of the pair in the BBC’s documentary about his Coronation. The documentary about King Charles’s Coronation was broadcast on Christmas Day and featured not a single mention of either Prince Harry or Meghan Markle, despite more minor royals being featured.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a tough road ahead to get back in The King’s good grace.
